ok ive done a search and i cant find what im after.
does anyone one here know if you can fit a standard TR/TS 3Ltr V6
into a TR/TS that has a 4Cyl in it?.
i have a few probs with my engine and i thought why not throw a V6 in it
parts wont be a prob as i can get a TR V6 doner car.

all i know is, no, it will not fit as the engine mounts are different. probably better to find a V6 whole car

yeah it will fir the engine bay is designed to fit either motor...
just change the sub frame if u have a doner car and change engine mounts... swap computer and see if tranny bolts up. if it doesnts then swap for v6 one and change driveshafts etc as necessary

To do it properly you will need to
Change the LH mount with the v6 one, this is welded on however if changed properly I would chalenge anyone to tell the difference.
Change the crossmember that goes front to rear which holds the front and rear mount
You should also upgrade to v6 brakes, unless you have an elite, upgrade lower control arms also.
The front, rear and rh mount at the same.
Aside from ECU and wiring the mechanical is simple bolt in, get a doner car, use motor, trans, hubs etc etc and you are set.
Have seen KR's at auction smashed for a few hundred bucks

can i leave the crossmember in there if the mounts are the same?

No you can't use those brakes as the v6 is a heavier engine and you have to have brakes as good as, or better than the ones that were originally with the motor.
If you want to drive it on the road you'll probably also have to get a chartered engineer to certificate it (that's for SA but I reakon all the states would be the same). I would suggest if you were serious with this idea that you would contact either someone from your state's transport authority, an engineer or a workshop that regularly does this kind of work to check all of the details. You don't want to have finished the convertion to find that the whole thing needs to be redone due to not having had an initial consultation.
If you do decide to go ahead with this though, good luck.

are the brake rotors the same (i hope so) if they were i could still use them atleast.
NSW isnt too tough i put a 12A rotary into a gemini and got it passed easy
i dont think there will be a problem with the magna as both engines came out in them.
i also put a 202 in a 4cyl commo once and the RTA did not say a thing just changed the engine number. and there is heaps of things different on a 4 to 6 commo even the rim size and stud pattern are different

I'm pretty sure the rotors are a different size.
I'd also be looking at the twin piston caliper upgrade and some RDA slotted rotors for a nice brake upgrade. Cheap (just have to search around wreckers for a while) and easy to do.

Slotted rotors and pads shouldnt be more then $250.
Calipers i have no idea how much, but this is for the twin piston caliper on the verada models, so, even more stopping power.
mightaswell cover all your bases!

I paid $100 for a pair of twin pistons, their respective brackets and brake lines.
You'll need all of those goodies to do the conversion. It'll bolt on no dramas.
The only thing you'll have to worry about after that is the rash you'll get from your seatbelt from braking so hard hahahha

Nope, the twin piston equipped 2nd gens had the same master cyl.

The twin piston ABS magna/verada does have a different master cylinder due to the abs. It will however not be an issue, KB, Lethal and I have all proven this.

im also very interested in this as i was thinking about similar thing.. going v6 and manual from 4 cyl auto.. welding isnt a problem, engineer isnt a problem, pulling engine out and chucking v6 in isnt a problem. i guess.. well, id just need to find space to do it all.. maybe they can help at work, thats an idea.. cool. btw my auto is screwed, so i thought i might as well look into getting the whole thing done before worrying about just the auto..
