There are koni internal and externally adjustable units the external adjustable are a lot more expensive than the internals.

I run internals on the rear, and externals on the front and love them. Couldn't recomend them highly enough

if you are willing to spend that much i would consider looking at coilovers

Thats what tipped me over the edge. Was looking to upgrade my struts, priced Koni's and got quoted around $1100 supplied and fitted (for same setup as mitsiman described). Add the $400 odd I'd already forked out for kings springs and you're looking at a $1500 suspension upgrade.

I Emailed Anthony for a quote on sports spec (externally height and damper adjustable) hotbits coilovers and haven't looked back since.

Ok so coilovers it is. I remember that there were two types, $1500 and $2100. What's the difference? Also I take it there a direct replacemetn of the struts all round so lowered springs will be needed also?

No. Coilovers are a direct replacement for the struts and the springs - they are complete units. See pics of mine in the "The Postman visited me too" thread in Magna Mods from late last week.

the more expensive one is the race spec. they provide ride height adjust and damper adjust. the street spec only ride height

The race spec have dampening and rebound, which if I was going to pay for coilovers would be a must, the street spec have rebound only from memory, so you lose out on half your suspension setup control. The adjustable ride height makes them an attractive buy though.

I'm no expert - but I think the Hotbits "street sport" spec are only rebound adjustable. They definetly only have one other level of adjustment apart from height (ie: only one knob at the top of the strut).

Judging from the Hotbits web site - their coilovers come in 3 flavours........ but AFAIK only two of these flavours are available for Magnas (street and street sports).

the Hot Bits are both rebound and bump adjustable, but to save people messing up the many independent settings, they have made it so that when you twist the damper adjustable knob, it adjust both at the same time. Keeping them in the correct proportion of bump and rebound.

As for the 3 specs. They are Street, Sports, Race. Basically sports and race are the same, the only difference is race comes with adjustable top mount, which is Noltec pillowball. Phillcom Rally is a dealer of Noltec and can supply them cheaper, so we never offer the Race spec, becuase we can do cheaper separately. :)

Just our effort in looking after you. :)

cheers.
