View Full Version : Air Vent Extension to boot?

Has anyone ever tried to extend an air vent into the boot? I was thinking, since verada's have air vents for the rear passangers (i think they are in the centre console) they should connect to the front somewhere. I want to use one of those outlets, and run a hose to the boot to cool the amps. Wonder if that is possible.

Thanks in advance :)

I'd suggest some 12VDC fans if your concerned about the amps getting too hot. You could even control them via a thermostat if you wanted it to be really special.

Or to be super ricey number 1 special you could use the 12VDC computer chassis fans with LEDs in them :)

I think ducting to the back would like a bit crappy and like wooley said you could end up making them even toastier :) 12VDC fans are the best solution, you've already got power there and they cost next to nothing.

getting it from the centre console to the boot tho, wouldn work.. you cant go under the metal.. so you'd have a plastic pipe or something going from the console to under the seats then to the boot.
put the carpet over that in its own enclosre, itd be raised tho..

Or, get some 12v fans sittin on/under the amps.. would be much easier.lol

Thought of this myself, using a flat ducting I reckon you could hide it ok, but biggest prob is temp loss over that distance, would need to insulate ducting well. Certainly possible.

Another idea I thought of is putting a 12V fan to draw air from cabin (intake vent on parcel shelf or in C pillars) and ducting that onto amp/s, make switchable for summer use only.

Open ski port:D sound quality:cry:.

yeh i agree with everyone just get some computer fans as by the time the air reaches the boot it wont be as cold and you really wouldnt get much flow all the way back there, but think if you ran a thin pipe from the blower to boot say run it on the ground in the middle it will heat up too much from the road and exhaust. Plus you would have to have the fan on 2+ and you might not want that much flow inside all the time
