Go there.. AeroPro or someone like that make wiring harnesses so you don't have to chop up your factory loom... really recommend you get one of those...

yes yes yes - i do agree - if you can get a loom to loom adaptor - much much easier than trying to find the right wires and solder them together - and gives a much cleaner look - and easier to replace if you sell car and put factory stereo back in!!

WUSS!!!
Ahh leave him alone =P =)
But yeah, disappointing... =/ Sorry, I'm just really annoyed at the fact that so many people get ripped off for jobs that require little more than a few minutes of thinking, a few screws or disconnecting wire looms and some common sense..... I don't think a five minute jobs is worth the 30 min wait and ransom you pay for it even if it is "pro" ... Which is sorta why I think getting a job as a pro installer could be a pretty darn high paying and good job =D
Get us some pics when it's done pines =)

I think its a very avg paying job, instead the stores have a high markup...
I had a bloke who did mine and tought me everything i know now. If anyone is in WA i can pass you onto him. Top job cheap and you actually learn something....

Nah, I sorta meant privately... Doesn't seem like those guys in the workshops get treated very well (which would explain some of the dodgy "pro" installs I've heard people complain about)... Had a friend who got quoted $50 from a private installer to change his rear lights in a Lancer... $50?! For crying out loud.. I told him how to do it over the net and he did it in 10 minutes.. This is someone who bought their car pre-modded and has never done simple maintenance on their car let alone modify anything in it... It's this sort of crap that ticks me off.....

Hope you didn't inherit his soldering ability. :)

speaking of soldering - i just picked up this sweet as butane soldering iron - so much better then electrical one - quicker to heat up and dont have to worry about cables getting in the way - definitely recommend it - i got it from dick smiths for about 114 bucks - good effort!! i also got a desolder vacuum and a roll of solder - all up about 135 bucks - i am so happy with this new soldering iron i will be redoing my neons and luminous dials this weekend!! woohoo - mayb i can get the centre console wires to light up again!! doh - quick installs are always dodgy!! haha
