Right i have had this installed for a few months now and basically i always feel its not justifying itself...... i'm after spl as i cant afford / be bothered with sql, aslong as its listenable i dont care basically.

Its in a sub box ( non ported - should i get ported) and its powered by a toxic tx-1500n 2 channel amp that is bridged to provide 1500watts ( http://www.bassjunkies.com/?pid=31286&rf=ref_google).

I listen to mainly rock and a little bit of DnB but i mainly that that kick in the guts factor that i just dont seem to be getting. What could i do?

( and as ive just started uni and am stupidly low on funds dont just say buy new schizzle :D )

definatly a ported box, thats why you aint getting that kick in the guts factor.
set aside about $80 for a custom 18mm-24mm sub box with ports in vinyl/carpet.

buy new schizzle :P

Nah, what exactly is it missing...

Not enough volume?
Sloppy bass instead of a nice tight thump? (i.e. boomy?)
Not low enough?

$80!!!
You wont get a custom box for that price unless you make it yourself! Well you might get a crappy 12mm particle board on but that will flex and sound garbage.

Cost me $160 for a prefab sealed 18mm carpeted box with some dacron fill and to have the sub fitted in the box.

You will be looking at a lot more for a custom one. I got quoted about $400+ for a small custom ported box.

Well its hard to explain.........it basically can make my mirrors adjust themselves but only on super bassy low frequency stuff and on fairly high vol...., the rest of the time it sounds like its struggling if you know what i mean.

It just doesnt have that kick in the guts, oh ghod i cant breathe factor that i think it should, i went in a friends car witha 500w sub and this doenst sound much different until you throttle the thing by which point it overcomes the rest of my system. What i want is big strong bass farts right through the volume scale and 3 15" l7 solobarics:D

A Ported enclosure is needed.. This will give the Sub a Chance to vent its raw Bass Into your Cabin..

Which way have you got the sub facing at the moment ??

sorry if i was vauge :P
what i meant to say was, measure everything up yourself, then take the measurements to a cabnet maker for him to cut it, you then take the pieces home and join it all up.
cost me $60 for angledl box, angles cut, everything, just had to spend about $7 on some PVA and no more gaps. and of course i had screws at home.
not CUSTOM...but like, saves you screwing up the meaurements and getting you and everything else covered in MDF dust :)

You will have to make a New Enclosure, get the exact Enslosure specifications and find out what it needs to be tuned to..

Seems like maybe a good tune would help, and since it costs next to nothing maybe try that first?
With that much power, a sealed enclosure should still have plenty of thump.
