hey i was wondering. ive run wiring in my TR though the doors for my splits and chucked the woofers onto the door trim panel where the pockets used to be. are you guys doing the same thing? do you guys have any support behind the door panels? cause i didnt think it was gonna last at first, but they seem to hold out fine, but i cant seem to stop some rattling still. are those door panels even strong enough longterm? i put a couple of self tappers though the steel frame behind the door panels through the same holes that the pockets were screwed onto. anyways, any advice would be appreciated, im taking my car apart anyway soon to fit central locking, so itd be a good time to change/improve
cheers

sound deaden the doors dood.
i didnt like the screw holes so i made a custom MDF holder thingy behind it.
and IMO yes, the door trims are strong enough, i was sceptical at first, but dw, they will be fine if you screw straight into them

check out how i did mine here;

damn, very nice. where did you get all the colour trimming from? i wanna paint all my bits as well but gf tells me that it looks better black :P. and my speakers came with little clips that clip into the sides to screw the screws straight into them

to do was simple, for the top bit i took out the insert, ripped the material off, and drilled a hole wher ei wanted the tweeter to go.
covered it in thin foam, and then put vinyl over the top, glueing it down, bit by bit.

for the bottom trims was alot easier, i made a rough cut out out of some cardboard, and transferred that onto some 5mm MDF, cut that out, thick foam over the top, vinul over that, and used a staple gun to hold it all together.

then i used some heavy grade silicon crap to stick the MDF bottom baffle to the door, let it dry/sit overnight and then put the speakers in.

quite easy, just rip apart everything and go from there:D
vinyl was $19 a meter from lincraft (mums are good for something:P)

you cant paint it if you want, but chances are the color of your car comes in vinyl.
only paint the dash pieces
i hope that made SOME sense!
