I was wondering if it was possible to fit the Verada steering wheel Audio controls to my TL VR-X's stereo? My Wife's car has them, and when I drive my Magna, I realise how much I miss them. I couldn't imagine it would be too hard, just a simple wirein, and they should work.

So, is it possible to fit the Verada Controls to a standard Magna?

Good question. WOuld love to know as i have a EI and would love the XI wheel controls in my car. Are the looms all there and just need the switches? The radios are the same i think so are they all pree wired ready to go?

You can do it, but you need the clock springs etc on the steering wheel. Ive got a after market pioneer hu, and im going to get the infra red steering wheel remote.

* dont take my words as gospel though.

Let us know how that goes, from what I know the infra red remotes only work line of sight

Yup, need a different clock spring. I dont know how much they are but I assume expensive. I was thinking about one to but buttons for gear shifting on the wheel.

What is a clock spring? Also, would my local Magna parts depo have them in stock? This is a project that I would like to complete soonish.

I've got a KH Verada xi which has the steering wheel controls.

I am actually thinking of finally fitting an Alpine head unit which I took out of my old car, meaning that the stock Eurovox head unit, changer and steering wheel controls will be redundant.

If you are around the area, you are welcome to have those parts. I'm in Brisbane. Unfortunately I do not know how to remove the steering wheel controls successfully at this stage.

PM me if interested,

I want to do this on my TL VRX AWD.

What are clock springs? I thought that the horn and other steering wheel controls used slip rings. A quick look at the maintenance manual for a TL VRX AWD seems to show that the slip ring is in place for the radio controls. I haven't had a chance to check if there is any wiring from the slip ring to the radio though.

nice idea for the button - you'd still have to move the stick into the manual spot though?

i think i've convinced the master of finances about installing the rear sway bar!

I've got a Manual TL VR-X (so FWD, but the radios are the same), and if you have the clockspring, I would hazard a guess to say that I have it too. I understand that I have to take the wheel off it to get to the clock spring however?

Once again, I've only had a quick look, but from what I could see, it appeared that the slip rings and connector for the audio controls were in place on the steering wheel side. So, theoretically, on the steering wheel side, it may be as simple as removing the airbag (legal disclaimer follows: this is EXTREMELY dangerous, the factory procedure must be followed) mounting up the audio hand controls unit and replacing the airbag.

What is on the steering column side is still a complete mystery to me as I haven't had the chance to look.

For anyone still reading this thread, I asked my dealer for a price on the steering wheel audio controls, I stopped listening when he started off with, "400 and ... dollars". That is without the costs which may come about for the extra cabling.

I can buy a half decent headunit with remote for that!
