When's the last time you have it serviced? Cos that list is pretty much a minor service plus lots of nothing imo. $80 is fine for that but if it's been as long as you're implying maybe you should be doing more?
Ah well hopefully they check everything well and if anything needs to be done, you'll know about it.

as Madxi said.. Youre getting a minor service done.
All they are doing is checking things.. not replacing them, dont expect alot from that $80 service other than a list of things that need fixing/replacing...

yea man, if you havent serviced it in a while you might wanna get other things done, like spark plugs and stuff..
unless you wanna do that yourself.. save alot.
you know Rapid Tune in Knox charges $66 to replace the spark plugs?! OMFG

yeah, unfortunately ppl advertise services that seem cheap with nothing really being done.
RULE OF THUMB: look out for lots of words like "check" "inspect" "top-up" and similar. These effectively mean they have a look, which may take 1 minute, and thats it.
how many k's has it been since u did a service? or a major service for that matter???

your 80 bux is going to get 10 min check over 5 min test drive and a change of engine oil and oil filter worth ...wait for it.....
oil ....they pay netween $1 to $2 per liter so about 5 to 10 bux at the most
oil filter cost $5
if your lucky a sump plug washer
wiper blades les than $4
so it would cost them between 14 to19 bux worth of parts
10 to 15 min check over and 5 to 10 min to change oil , oil filter , wiper blades
.................................................. .................................................. .......
they charge you aprox $20 for oil
$10 for filter
about $10 for wiper blades
and 1 hr lab at about $50

the checking and inspecting of sstuff in serving is a bit bs imo thats why i usualy jsut get my mechanic to change the oils, then ask them if theeres anything wrong iwth other things that dont feel right to me.

depending on what needs to be done with the brakes, you might be able to get that done yourself.. or someone who knows for cheaper.
cv joints.. if they arent making a noise while you turn, you can get away with putting that off for a while. the seals might be damaged, so the mechanic would have reccomended a replacement.
tyres.. yea.. gotta have those.. youll find a set of 4 x 14" tyres on ebay for under $100.. or even under $50!
its not so bad

well when i eventually replced mine, i picked up a pair of drive shafts from a place in dandening for $70 and you should be able to find someone who will put them in for about $40 each sice.. save you Some money.
Also- do a search and see what other people have said about leaving CV joints for a while.

hmmm...i dunno bout this - i have stufd ignition leads myself, and am waiting till i have a freaking day off work next week to change them and the rear sparkies etc, and i've been doing runs out to ballarat and geelong, and it doesnt seem to have affected my fuel consumption much if any. u just don;t get the p;ower and smoothness.
also, with the CV joints, on my previous car (daihatsu charade - god bless her soul:D ) my CV's were going for a while, and my mechanic told me to leave em till they start clicking when i turn, coz i was a cash-strapped student at the time. So i did, and when they did start making horrible noises i had em replaced, cost me $400 new and fitted.
So my experience would say don't stress too much about it at the mo - mechanics say a lot of things to get u to spend money.

I personally rekon the o2 Sensor is half of your fuel problems, if the exhuast is stuffed i'd say so is the sensor.
Replaced the o2 in the Commodore and she did more than double the k's to a tank!

man for $260 bucks you wont be getting anything flash.
i though my 17"s shouldnt cost much...
for 235/45 x 4 tyres that set me back just under $490.........on closer inspction it was a brand called "clear".
so i wouldnt expect anything great for $260 even for 14"s
if i was you i'd go wreckers (if thats close) and set some tyres off a car there

The tyre factory are the best i reccommend them anyday.
And i think you've been led on a bit of a goose chase with $100 ignition leads and $1000 damage from a clicking CV

normily the closer to the city the more you pay if you go out of the city labour is less
this is beause the lease on the building near or in the city cost a lot more than the outer suburbs

u sure u wanna go just cheap tyres? go to $100 per wheel, so all up $400, should get u some decent 14" tyres. just think for a second, winter is around the corner, dont u want good rubber and a better stopping distance rather than ****house stopping distance coz of cheapass rubber? would be safer and cheaper in the long run in the event of a fender bender, or ur tyres not gripping round a corner.
some things u can skimp on, but i wouldnt go cheapass rubber because this is one of the main things (if not the most important thing) that decides whether u live or die in an accident! or the driver of the other car...
so do us all a favour and spend $100 per tyre on sum bridgestones or something, so we dont hafta say 'i told ya so' later on wen u tell us about ur **** handling in the wet.
oh, and rac gets a discount at tyre places, as do uni guilds and stuff...may not be much but can make a diff :)

thanks bro for ur advice, today i will be looking around, one thing i know i will be buying Brand New TYRES, if i have 2 spend 400$ on a set i will, because i've replace my tyres 2 much often in the past and yes in long run it will save me money and my life in the wet season,
i have a discount aswell from Mitz Wrecker In Dandenong, just show this stamp when i go to TYRE factory laster on, i'm just wondering , how much my exhust is ganna cost to fix, because when i was driving last night/yesterday when i got it back it sounded like it was stuggling, didn't sound 2 good, apart from the 4 things that i have to replace the rest of cars perfornace has been improved, just hope it stays that way, as Bain said, hopefully this year i take more care of servicing it more often, i was in shock when my dad told , how many problems with my car,

yeah but there are a lot of other factors to consider too.
my mechanic is in collingwood - (inner city), and he charges $66 an hour for labour.
partly because they do a lot of business, and he's a reasonable bloke too:D :D wouldn't go ANYWHERE else. An honest mechanic is worth his/her weight in gold i say
