There are a fair few 380's kicking around here. All of them are base models in light burgundy. Lets hope the fleets are loving them!

I've seen a few more of late, but not nearly enough to get excited about! Most that i see are VRX's with their shameful tail lights, and base models.

I just found out last night that Mitsu UK sells no sedans larger than the Lancer.... methinks Mitsu OZ ought to get the RHD contract for that one quick smart! The last model Galant did half well there.

I went to the UK last year and in 2001. In 2001 there was a fuel strike on and when I returned my rental car (MG) I was slugged a 500 pound fee for not refilling the tank fall! And even last year petrol is still around 2 pounds a litre.

Though mind you, for a big 6 the 380 is fuel efficient and could sell well there with the RIGHT advertising and media exposure. In the UK really the only mitsu's you see a decent number of are the L200's (triton here) and the lancer. we also went to russia and there are so many lancers there (i was suprised!).

but yeah, as for exporting to the UK I spose they could give it a try as it would fill the large car category for Mitsu in the uk.

Interesting they call the Triton an L200 when it's a van here...what do they call the L200 van then?

I don't think they sell the Mitsu vans there. If they do then I didn't see any. But yeah, there is quite a few L200's there, by the way have you seen the new Triton (or L200?), it gets released here in march (well this month) apparently. Looks good front on and actually hasn't got an 8 year old interior like the old model.

If they made the 380 suitable for the UK's whether conditions, by adding auto head lights and wipers (all cars have auto wipers in the uk basically), along with heated mirrors and seats they could have a player. And to export it to the UK would probably cost a bit, but hey the spot needs to be filled and the newest large car Mitsu have available to them is the 380 so why not give it a go. Though when exporting they could offer the whole line-up but they would probably be no point, the could just offer the LX and GT models (with the features mentioned above). Though, to be sold in Europe it would be expected to have ESP and Curtain airbags, nearly every car over there has it (theres heaps of a4's, c-class's and 3 series and heapz of renaults). As for price say 19,990 would suit it well for LX and say GT at 21,990 (with standard GPS in GT to create some difference) (remember ~$2.40 = 1 pound). Therefore that would be $47,976 and $52,776 not including onroads.

Oh, and regarding the original topic, a mitsu dealer guy said they expect sales to be just under or above 2,000 for february as they were apparently up to 1,100 when I enquired about 10 -11 days ago.

Hope he's right.

i hang around the milton and city business area's in brisbane quite alot, and 380's are starting to pop up everywhere! And a big majority of people driving them are people in suits. I think alot of people who are told by their employer to go buy themselfs a company car through salary sacrafice or whatever the case may be are choosing to go with the 380. I think people see it as having more prestige then a commo or falcon, and who wants a boring old camry...

I agree. If I had a choice I wouldn't even consider a Commodore or the camry. The falcon would be 2nd pick, but the 380 wins by a mile.

Cool, I havent seen it yet. Sounds nice.

I always thought the Triton was called Montero overseas...or is that what they call the Pajero?

The official numbers are due to be released tomorrow. However as we are not allowed to discuss sales figures on this forum, come to 'Australian Ford Forums' if you want to see who sold how many of what for the month of February.

i ran into a mate from school who works in a bank now, and was about to get promoted with more money plus a car. He was telling me he was going to make sure it was a 380, and he knew nothing of me owning a Mistubishi myself :) I have also heard a few young people who arent into Mitsubishi's or anything (own imports) really like the 380 :)

I dunno about the prestige thing though. A lot of people (trying not to say brainwashed bogans) still think Falcons/Commodores are the be all and end all of family cars!

Are you really that immature that you have to make a comment like that?

It's been pretty clearly explained that the sales "guessing" threads were just pointless and there were a heap of them that weren't doing anything new.

We don't care about a normal discussion so long as it's not flogging a dead horse.

I really wish people who make comment such as yours would really think twice before posting it.

L200 was a ute here at one stage in the 80`s. the only ones left though, are utterly gutless after living a hard life. the vans are called L300`s not l200

Yeah that's the Triton I'm talking about. And for once Mitsu actually has a very good looking ute (or pickup...whatever you want to call it). The front looks awsome, the interior's hot as, side on views look really cool with those arches near the back doors and the only thing which doesn't look as good is the back. Only thing I would like to see on it is clear lens covers and LED tail lights beneaf them. It would look hot as.

BTW... this ute is also very high on the features list and has ESP + TRC available along with a diesel engine (sourced from Peugeot I think - whether or not the diesel comes to Aus is another question) and I think it has curtain airbags; kind of funny as people don't usually associate class, sporty looks and luxury appointments with utes, but I think this ute has broken all of these barriers.

So I reckon this should sell like hotcakes, especially considering that Mitsu havn't had an all new ute in like 8-9 years.

With this on the way and the awsome looking upcoming outlander (which was the highest selling SUV in November and December in Japan) on the way I think Mitsu will be in for a huge increase in sales. Which is no suprise as that new outlander is one *** hot SUV, i wonder why we apparently won't get it to late '06/early '07 when NZ have already got it.

As for sales in Aus I couldn't find anything... but i thought i'd post this.

February Auto Sales: Mitsubishi

MAR. 1 6:13 P.M. ET Japan's Mitsubishi Corp. said Wednesday that its February U.S. vehicle sales fell 36 percent, as sales of nearly all of its models declined.

The automaker sold 7,976 vehicles, down from 12,477 in February 2005. Total car sales fell 41 percent to 5,416 vehicles, as sales of the Galant fell 60 percent to 1,898 and sales of the Lancer dropped 48 percent to 1,385.

At the same time, sales of the Eclipse Coupe rose 60 percent to 1,725.

Company officials attributed the declines to a planned reduction in fleet sales.
Sales of sport utility vehicles fell 37 percent to 2,068, led by the Endeavor which was off 56 percent at 849 vehicles.

Well that was the negative style story.
The positive style story from another website:

CYPRESS, Calif., March 2, 2006: Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc., (MMNA) reported on Wednesday that February sales of 7,976 units, an increase of 6.8% compared to January sales of 7,469.

"We always anticipated that our sales in February 2006 would soften compared to February 2005*, because of our commitment to reduce our fleet sales," said President & CEO Hiroshi Harunari. "However, we are pleased that in the current context, our sales are growing month-to-month."

-- Galant was the volume leader at 1,898, up 19.6% from last month's
volume.
-- Eclipse closed at 1,725 and was up 10.6% from last month's volume and
up 59.7% from last year's volume.
-- Outlander closed at 1,061 and was up 47% from last month's volume and
up 13.6% from last year's volume.
"We are excited at the prospects for a very strong March, with the implementation of an aggressive national leasing program on Galant ($199/month) and Endeavor ($299/month)," added Harunari. "This momentum will grow even further this spring with the launch of our exciting all-new Eclipse Spyder convertible."

* - February 2005 sales were 12,477

Hey ... why don't mitsu finally make a RHD version of this car and export it to Aus? It is a model of theres that actually sells really well there and should here as people miss a 2 door lancer and the 2.4 Eclipse could replace that and the MIVEC 3.8 could be there 'hardcore' (if u don't mind me saying), sports coupe. This would be a car that would really get traffic into their dealers, a car which I would want to see & possibly own.

I've started seeing more 380s with Leaseplan stickers. Which means more senior public servants are selecting them. Not to mention the AFP has a couple.
