I've just bought a 1997 Ei KF Verada and I've noticed that it leak some kind of oil/liquid overnight, Its kinda greenish black, it leaves a small puddle, about 5 -8cm in diameter.
I also "think" that it only does it if I use the air-con/climate control during driving.
I have to double check that to make sure.
Anyone know what the problem is?
Thanks

Where does the puddle form?
Green liquid sound like it could be your Coolant. If it leaks (badly) when you've got the climate control on it could be a hole in your heater coils. They use the hot coolant from your engine to heat the air from your heater.
Just a thought.

Its just in front of the passenger side seat, about 30cm or so in from the left front wheel.
Didn't seem to leak today, I didn't use the air-con, well I used it for like 5 minutes...
I'll have to see if anything leaks tomorrow morning.
There was already a puddle yesterday about 15 minutes after I parked, I had the air on all day yesterday.
Thanks for the advice.

mine does this too but i believe its just clear (i thought it was the aircon just getting rid of built up water or condensation or something

Sine you just bought it, maybe the water was over filled, and it is just finding its normal opperating level?

Watch out for dodge mechanics that will try and sell you a new water pump + charge you upwards from $500 for it.
Sorry, I almost got suckered in and my water/coolant levels have not changed in over a week.
I’m not saying don’t get it checked out however.
It’s probably worth a quick look into.
•Are you in Perth? I haven’t seen many 97 Verada’s around apart from mine, my favourite shape 3.5L! :D * Edit* just saw that u are in NSW*

it sounds like the dye thats used in air con systems
you may have a bad air con leak
use some white paper to soak some up then put a drop of coolant on the paper see if its the same color..
if its oily i think air con problem

you do relise that the water pump is behind the timing belt??
its about 3 to 4 hr job + parts and if the timing belt has had coolant on it, it should be replaced

Yeah Magnus, I do realise this. but $500 for just a water pump is bull%^&* I have found them for under $100 all be it a cheap one.. repco have them for $208 and so do many other places I did not say $500 including fitting and from my understanding + calling 5 places in the last week... it would take 2 - 3 hours at $66 ~88 per hour.

It hasnt sprung a leak yet.
I popped the hood and had a look around, I had no idea what I was looking for haha
But anyway the only place that seemed to have a leak was around the Engine Oil cap area.
It was black grease around it, going down one side.
Also on a side note, how do you find out what the color codes actually mean?
Mine says TH.
THanks
