Had my GTV for a few days now and love it however a question for the experts out there.
When I back out of the driveway reverse gear engages very quickly but go to put it in drive and it takes a lot longer to engage gear. Is this normal? Trans fluid is OK.
Thanks

it should take 1-2 seconds when cold, but when warm it should be pretty much instant,
thats the way with mine anyway

Hey MAGFAN,
I've got a 2002 Advance 4 spd auto. After Shifting from Reverse to drive, my gearbox takes around 1/2 sec to engage.

Mine is taking a good 3 seconds, doesn't matter if it is hot or cold. Trans is working fine but as has been suggested I will get it checked within its 3 month warranty. Thanks Guys

The AWD i had took a good 2 seconds to engage drive which was very dangerous especially if you are pulling out on a busy road in reverse and go to drive and have to wait 2 seconds.
Took it to Mitsub and they updated software i think and it helped the problem. Should be fairly instant.

Exactly what made me notice it pulling onto busy street from reverse to drive. AlphA says .5 second thats what I want. Back to Mitsubishi Ithink.

Reverse to 1st? As quick as I can move my hand and dump the clutch lol
But seriously, 3 seconds is a LONG time when theres oncoming traffic.

I would say that around 1 second would be normal but your time sounds a little too long. When I was working at ford some of the new BA's were taking up to 5 seconds when warm and ford were saying this was satisfactory. How shonky

Thanks Magtone for the advice. Is that something that only service technicians should do or can I try it. I am not very mechanically minded.
