Anyone know if there are custom or colored Gauge/Tacho/Dial Panel's for 93' TR's? I'm after white, if anyone knows a store that sells them please let me know.

[TUFFTR]
03-03-2006, 09:44 PM
yep a TS grille with super cheap mesh behind it
white seat covers, i got XDC ones, like AHS but half the price! they come in white, are throwover style, and can get em at repco, for a custom set of XHS ones your looking at over $180!!

It's funny you know, I said to myself, don't be stupid, you've just got the car, just get it all tunned and maybe get a CD/Mp3 Player.
Well, i've already spent close to $600 getting the engine and etc fixed (dickhead friend who owned it before never took care of it)
And now i've spent $250 on audio rofl, and i'm considering doing more! Owning a car sucks you in!
So repco for white seat covers and half AXS, $50 for a pair, I can spare that lol.
[TUFFTR]
03-03-2006, 09:50 PM
yeah they are called XDC, i may have a picture of them...
edit, nah sorry no pics, but go repco they are pretty nice.
Edit - dont get me started on car audio budgets!

I'm just lucky my loan/insurance repayments haven't started yet or i'd be screwed! I think it's also becuase I'm on holidays, i'll go spend money, get stuff put it on or whatever, just to waste time.
Alrigthy i'll go check out repco tommorow, not sure if i'll get white, or maybe a dark blue. The thing is though, the car is grey, but I think it's the viynl dash, is a really, really dark blue, so color co-ordinating is gonna be a toughy. Might just do white trims, console etc, white/blue will look decent.
Thanks for the the info TUFFTR

or is there wiring etc?

No go, had a look at eBay Canada - they've got the same Glow Gauges as the US site - Speedo is in MPH with small KPH.
But the gauges are also different - the position of the KPH & RPM marks. (see pics)
You would also need to recalibrate them or something ?
pics are of a standard Diamante Cluster, the Glow Gauges, and a 6cyl & 4cyl Magna Cluster.

Our 100kph is almost at 12 o'clock, the D's Speedo 100kph mark is at approx. 11 o'clock.

The Tachos that go to 9000 are from the DOHC's, the ones that go to 8000 like ours are the SOHC ones. You were on the right track Adza

Unless you're a real detail freak the difference in the RPM gauge is minimal, the redline is actually in the same place on both cars, just the numbers squeezed closer together, you're only about 200rpms out either way when applying it to the SOHC motor. However the speedo may well be off due to the fact kilometers mean nothing over here in the states :D

For printing out the dials the best stuff to use is the HG stuff that Canon make (or equivalent) it's called High Gloss Photo Film and it's actually a thin white plastic sheet A4 size and it works perfectly. Thats what you see in the photos of my red dials.

When you scan the auto fuel temp part...you dont' actually print that out. You carefully cut it out with a scaple(sp..I never use that word lol) so the original part shows through.
It's not hard to do, you're being pretty pessemistic about it. I spent the money on a cluster, did the scans, got an awesome result and then sold the cluster as it was fine.
There's no hassle to doing it. But if you want to spend almost $300 on something you could spend about $50 once off and make as many as you want after that...then go for it.

Printed it out myself at home on a canon s830D on it's highest setting, on high gloss photo film, it's like a thin white plastic A4 sheet.
You want to be paid? For what? There's no effort involved. It just takes time and it's something anyone can do. When I first did it I posted up the dial scans for free. Unfortunately, I don't have them anymore.

Noone should charge for this because it's so simple to do yourself
yeah but most guys don't have printers that print photo paper etc or don't want to spend that much money on another set of ink blocks plus paper that ain't cheap so I would pay for the paper and some ink and postage and a little for printing it out for me makes sence to me.

Yes, KillBilly I understand it's simple to do, but it seems a few people don't have enough knownledge or the skills capable of making them. Possibly they're just lazy? I don't know. Anyway here's my set that i'm going to print soon.
n/b: Once again this images are not sized to scale, so copying and printing will not work.

There's no "knowledge" or "skills" required.
But meh...I dont care...if people want to waste their money then fine...maybe I should make them and effectively steal your money instead? :doubt:

I could make so many of these its not even funny, hell i could make dials with semi transparent naked chicks on them if people wanted, or flames, or a tin of baked beans for all i care... Like KB said, the PSD files he put up here a while back are already layered and so easy to edit. You just need Photoshop and the most basic of basic knowledge to do anything to them.

It's funny how easily people misconstrew words. Payment would have been for printing and post. Once again I stated it was simple, but you still had members willing to pay to get it done for them, is it my fault, they are lazy and incompetent in using basic Graphics Skills? no? I'm really starting to dislike the negative attitude in these forums. I'm trying to help, yet I cop crappy comments? Makes me think what's the point in putting into these forums if I just get crapped on every time.
I will be posting the simple white dial set in .PSD format shortly. Free of charge...
Edit: I've decided to upload my custom dials (the blue/orange white bg ones) in .PSD instead, you'll need the font for the numbers, or you can always change it, as it's all text layers and you can edit it easy. Watch for a new post.
Also, thanks for the words MagnaAussie.

mutelabs I look forward to it and thank you for your time in doing this for us.
Some of us do not have the skills to use a paintshop programe or a proper printer and I see nothing wrong with paying someone for printing, paper & postage to someone willing to do it for you.
I do find it sad when members resort to a negative attitude it only drives other members away and give a club a bad reputation but I see this in alot of forums these days.

I may get around to hosting something, but definitely not as they stand; who the hell makes a 36MB graphics file for uploading to the web?! Seriously people, learn to use a vector tool for this stuff! I'll convert it if I get around to it. No way should it be over a maximum of maybe 1MB for what it is! :hand:

I don't have the online space for a file that size, and have gone over my download limit, so am speed limited for the next few days, making it impossible to upload a file like that.

OK, extremely quick one, haven't done any vector work, just resized and separated into colour layers, here's the 4cyl speedo. Will remove it from my server and replace with a proper vector set when I feel inclined.

I separated everything out into layers, was going to delete the ralliart stuff but figured what the hell.
And no it's not mine, can't remember who posted the files originally, I just made them a bit more bandwidth- and user- friendly.
As I said, I'll try to make up a clean vector version at some stage as a standard template. If anyone has a V6 speedo file, let me know (can't be stuffed pulling mine apart and scanning it, I'm sticking with the stock faces)

this is my custom effert so far
All of this is done with LED's
The white ones behind the dials are 3A Racing T10's
The green ones in front of the gauges are Narva T5's
the floor lights are multi colored/ paturn forming LED tubes, set to green, but also srobe with music.
What do you think?

i like the gauge man, the LED's beind make it look neat

no, in the night those dont come up because ive removed all the lights behind.. im sure if u leave a couple it should be alright
the UV's mounted where the top lights shine down onto the cluster

You should be able to open it up and get pos and neg wires out..
u can even connect it up to the cluster and have it dim with your dimmer switch

yea jus unscrew it and see if its just a switch or if theres anything else in there that the neon would need.
If there is, you can hide that little bit in one of the gaps behind the cluster. there is plenty of space there.
My neons have an inverter box which is pretty massive, ive hidden that in one of the gaps. U'll be able to do the same
