Hi everyone!

This is my first post. Felt like showing off my first sound system install. I think its pretty cool.. lemme know what ya reckon. I did all the install myself, incl construction and carpetting of the subwoofer enclosure.

I've attached a few key pics, but if you wanna see all of them click here (http://nothingupthesleeves.net/gallery/car) (http://nothingupthesleeves.net/gallery/car)

Well done.. Nothing like having an idea and turning it into reality.. Especially when you do it yourself!

Thanks everyone! As I'm not cabinet maker I decided to do the full boot install since (as it turned out) my skills would not have made a decent looking box. Took a bit of effort on the carpet but im happy with it.

The speakers are still stock running off the HU. I thought about spending money on some new ones.. but with the sound im getting at the mome I might wait a little while.

The tweeters are Infinity (don't know the model or anything since I picked em up from a friend's junk pile) and uses Infinity Kappa x-overs.

Only thing left is to mount the sub's volume knob somewhere... I use it all the time so don't wanna put it somewhere I gotta move to reach, but still want it discreet.. any ideas?!

great boot install and welcome mate,
its good to see someone actually take their time with a complete boot install and setup, most people i know start off careful, get bored then rush it. So good Job.
One question though, did you lose much space in the boot having it set up that way, im thinking about doing it in my 2nd gen magna, but im not sure how much space i'll lose.

Have a look at the gallery link at the beginning of the post. The first picture has a rough chalked position of the install.. the front panel sits right on the line.

I reckon I still have enough boot room to fit the things I need to. I can fit 2 average sized suitcases in (one size down from the largest size i've seen; one person case). The face covers the spare tyre cover by about 2". I can still lift it (it bends) and slide it out. Slides back in reasonably easily enough.

I will have to invest in some kind of grill eventually. To be honest the car is used more for getting around than carrying things. Even without the sub I've needed to use my family's other car to carry the larger things (the ski hole doesn't really allow for large pieces of MDF!!)

hey mate looking at the pick of the lcd screen, i think i know where u can put the volume control, u have a little area in your centre console where you could add it, if its small

Welcome to AMC. Nice setup mate, looks very professional. How exactly did u hold the sub and amp up, cause i neva saw a backing in the pics u had on the website?

This might help ppl understand what i did. The sub is attached to the face panel. The amp is attached to the box. The face panel then attaches to the front of it all. It isnt bolted into anything because the face panel sits tightly between the wheelwells, and sits snuggly behind the "spring" brackets for the boot, and the box sits tightly in the little cavity behind the seats.
