Just pulling the fuse would do this?

I just ended up reassembling the intake and plenum, disconnecting the fuel pump relay under the centre console and turing it over a couple of times... I was hoping for a way to do it without the reassembly but ohh well.

Hi Candarin

Lift up the console panel to gain access to the fuel pump relay
(it's on the right, behind the engine control relay)

With engine idling, dis-connect the wiring plug from the relay

When engine stalls, turn off the ignition switch and refit the plug.

You can release any remaining pressure by momentarily removing an injector from it's "o" ring
in the fuel rail

Cheers, Barry

I know you sorted it out already, but for anyone in the future trying this:

Haynes Guide:

1: Remove Fuel Cap

2: Disconnect Fuel Pump Power supply electrical connector at fuel pump

3: Start engine and wait for it to stall, then turn off ignition.

As a safety measure, disconnect the negative battery terminal immediately after removing pressure from the system.

on the 3rd gen sedan, if u look at the near side rear wheel, behind it on the corner of the fuel tank, u will see a black plug, undo that plug, and that'll stop the pump from working! on the wagon, just get behind it.. get underneath and undo the plug at the back of the tank!
or, if u dont even want to do any bending over.. just undo the two 10mm sized bolts at the fuel rail, wrap a rag around the area, and pull the fuel line off.. sure some fuel might spill, tiny amount, but at least the pressure has released!
