i was ever going to buy an Auto magna again, it would definately be AWD. i love my manual FWD, but the AWD would make the auto so much bareable!
only 1 piece of advice, SPRINTEX

Good luck in finding one! (if you haven't already). My current ride is 95 Verada Ei and she's been good for 4 years. But after 270,000kms it's time to to lay her to rest:cry:
Seriously considering TJ AWD but I'm having trouble finding a good one. Spoken to local dealers and had a look at sites (carsales.com etc) but they're quite rare... with good reason I'd assume.
Even just an AWD Exec would be good and I'll trick it up, but is it true that for some reason you can't put any bigger rims than 16's? I've heard conflicting views on this considering Sprintex put some 18's on. What do you guys think?

If I find a Verada AWD at the right price I'll jump at it. You're right they are sexy. That shape originally released in TE back in 96 was the sole reason why I'm a Mitsubishi freak today! Otherwise I'd be a Holden bogan!lol
When I first saw it I couldn't take my eyes off it. In fact the other day a black KL drove past - looked brand spanking new with the chrome window surround really accentuating the elegance of the design - a real drool fest:drool: (that's what's missing in 380 I reckon). Once again I couldn't stop looking and almost hit the car in front.lol
So yeah I'd love to find a black one. NICE!

Yeah it was an issue I believe with the rear hubs and requiring spacers, cant remember exactly, I did know once upon a time. Thats why the AWD didnt come out in TJ VRX form (couldn't take what became the signature 17 inchers)

Hey cammerra !
Great choice on the AWD and yes my next magna will be an AWD with sprintex supercharger !
What I would do is ring mitsubishi and ask them if you can run 17" rims on the AWD !
Or have a look at the placard on the inside front door jam pillar on a AWD where it says tyre rim size and see if it says anything about 17" rims ! It would be better than listening to a lot of people second guesing something they dont know anything about !
Personly I cant see why (but im not a professional) if you run a 16" on an AWD why you cant run a 17" unless its a width problem as when you go up in diameter you go up in width !
The out side circumference and diameter stay the same when you go taller in tyre... say a 16" to a 17" you go from a 16x55 to a 17x45 thus keeping the same tyre height !
Ring the manufacturer or even a tyre shop as they would have a listing for all makes and models but remember to tell them its a AWD.

Thats weird about the 17"s - Ezyboy has some on his from memory...
AWD's really are not as fast as the FWD counterparts - you do notice the power drop, but the traction is excellent. The idea of the sprintex sc appeals, but not the cost or the fuel economy (ouch) - this is the reason I am throwing all of the go-fast ralliart bits into mine...

I have a AWD Exec and have 17" Alloys No Problems at all
I dont really notice a power drop over the FWD models, especially since you can put the power down on any surface at any time :D
Though saying that I am looking at trying to increase the performance as its such a great car 2 drive, pity Mitsubishi didnt bring out a AWD performance model
