Around how much should it cost to replace the alternator with a brand new one (including labor) in a 2002 TJ? I was quoted $330 today from one place. Does that sound reasonable? Seems a bit much to me.

Edit: My battery indicator light comes on and off. Seems pretty random. Heard it's either the voltage regulator or alternator. Would it be easy to change the regulator myself? I don't know much about cars and don't have many tools but I don't want so spend $330 either :(

I was warned just replacing the voltage regulator is a temporary measure. Gives about 6 more months before it claps out again. (was told by Mitsu)

sounds like the regulator.

there is a little box with 2 rods in it that take the charge from the alternator that could be wearing out so they may just need to be replaced.

I was quoted $450 for a new alternator and timing belt kit at a different place so I think I'll be taking my car there :D

Not really. How much cheaper would that be? Think I'd feel better with a new one though but maybe I'm just silly.
