Autos do, manuals don't. Seems the clutch confuses the electronics.

You heard him, Traction control in a manual magna is not dumping the clutch at > 2500rpm.

Not unless you're wanting to put like 300kW through the front wheels.

If you really NEED traction control then a 3.5 Magna is not for you. Traction control should only activate if YOU have floored it without taking into account the condtions. YOU are in control of the amount of power YOU need. In the 12 months I've owned my Verada with traction control I have only had it operate once, and that was deliberate. If traction is a real issue I would look at the AWD.

Not really. I've never missed it. Understeer in a FWD is so predictable that you're not likely to be caught out.

so how bad is the torque steer in the VR-X

Well last year I had a TW ES company car for a short while and torque steer was evident. I could only assume that with slightly more power/torque and lighter body the TJ VRX would certainly have more than noticeable torque steer.

Well the manuals are pretty rare so I'd say you'll end up with an auto.

It is pretty easy to set the trace & slip control (it's not strictly a traction system) off in the front wheel drive - giving it a good boot from go or giving it a little in the wet will have the tcl going.

Slip control will match engine (read cut) power to front wheel traction, to accelerate smoothly over slippery surfaces (wet roads, gravel, etc)

Trace control monitors steering input, accelerator positioning and speed with the aim to reduce understeering on corners, by, you guessed it, reducing the engine power.

It really comes down to what your driving style will be, I wouldn't recommend the manual if your going to be in peak hour, nor would I recommend the auto if .5-.8 of a second at the drag strip means a lot to you. Additionally, the automatics cannot miss a service, MM are known not to have the most steadfast autos, they will get tempermental if not serviced correctly, on time, with the right transmission fluid.

A better approach would be to list the pros and cons of each.

Not really an issue in the Magnas, just be aware of it, a firm grip on the wheel should do. torque steer is only an issue when accelerating hard

is there ne mods to combat torque steer ie. suspension, strut brace, sway bar?????

Strut brace does the trick. Maybe I used to notice torque steer when I first got the car. These days I couldn't tell you if it occurred or not.

It's not a big issue, really. Take one for a spin, plant it off the line and you'll see.

You can turn the traction control off manually if you desire.
But once your key is out and you start it up again it'll default to traction control 'on'

No, no, no!

mate, you shouldn't really need traction control, go and find yourself a manual, therefore you can control how much wheelspin you want when you are launching for the lights!

You don't need traction control if you are a half-decent driver. People who test-drive cars always take it off, because a) you can handle faster, and b) it's more fun :D
