To all those who didn't believe this guy, you can now STFU lol.
The pics speak for themselves, but basically it's had a paint job and a few nice little extras. Still love that custom bonnet! Believed you all along mate ;).

I thought it was already clearly established it was real?...
I mean he only posted pics of the construction of it...I would've thought that was proof enough...lol
The lettering being painted over is just lazy IMHO
Anyway, credit to him for the work...not my cup of tea though.

Yes, straighten the number plate, fix teh bit of trim hanging down off the front bumper, remove the "MITSUBISHI" lettering and replace with chrome letters, bigger rims but not chrome, lowered, remove that god aweful montser tacho (i mean come on - its already got one!!!) and we'll talk
EDIT: Dear god when I painted my interior people whinged about my dash being slightly dusty.....my god, i think theres more dust that interior :P

yeah rims dont do it much justice, maybe we should wait until he does a photoshoot or something, when its in top nick, to really judge?
but yeah there are some things on that car which dont do it for me but HEY ITS ORIGINAL!

I like the bonnot
I dont like the you sprayed over the chrome letters on the garnish
I dont like your angled number plate :)
I dont like the cheap tacho that reads to 11,000 :P
Apart from that its super nice :)

I like, good job
But definately fix the rear garnish, take the letters back to chrome or get rid of them all together if thats possible.

Yeh bonnet and colour are awesome. I told him about the chrome letters as well hehe. Rims i dont personally like, but that all comes down to taste.
nice one!
i think the rims do suit the car fine -although i don't like em that much (too bling for me). and i don't see anything wrong with the painted lettering or chrome strips on the grill.
and if people are complaining about dust i'd take it as a compliment that they are not trashing the actual mods you've made in the pics.
that's one very unique 2nd gen! i'm surprised the most outrageous mod (the bonnet) has met with almost universal approval. even if you only had fitted a regular wing on the boot for example you would have recieved some fierce feedback from some! -even your tacho attracts more negative feedback! well done.

nice colour, but it would look better on MY 2nd gen, i have been planning to paint my car orange for months now, and i like the car, but just wondering what paints been used, and how much it cost (including interior)

Why is there a second taco when it already has one, and why does it need one? lol

Colour...well ok i guess
Inside, looks crap, cheaply painted trim
Paint and body work, again very badly done
If the concept had been done properly with a proper paint job it would look great. Someone has lacked the attention to detail this sort of job takes.

Do not need to as I can see the pics, I have restored many cars and can tell a cheap job when I see one.
I give the guy points for the ideas, I take them away for the cheap job.
Just my opinion and I am entitled to it.
Pic 1, panel allignment bad, the bar has not been properly painted in the vent area. For new paint job, is very dull, even if not buffed which it clearly is as there is no orange peel
Pic 2, rear bar not well alligned
pic 3, stereo fitment crap, black vents?
pic 4, white tacho needle, orange rest? tach with sift light in auto?
pic 5. front end allignment out a mile, trim hanging down under bar. Reasonale job has been done with the bonnet though, to what avail I am not sure

Im not being rude, but can you point out in the interior shots, where the "cheapness" is?
it looks like a decent job from the photos, lol you reckon that is ghetto.....you havent seen my attempt:P

Everyone is indeed entitled to an opinion, but you dont have to be rude about it.

It seems like some people have nothing better to do.
Reminds me of when I turbo'd my car and it got a review on autospeed.com then there were people on these forums acutally saying a whole heap of crap untill someone mentioned that I am from these forums.
I think people that just criticise are either jealous, threatened or quite simply have nothing better to do. As if the guy who owns the car is going to listen to their sh!t.
Also the topic is on his car and not to brag about yours being more ghetto or something. Jealous or threatened?
IMHO + probably alot of others as well.
The dudes done effort. Good on him!

dude fair enough u have restored a lot of cars and u are entitled to ur opinion but can u really judge a cars apperance from the pics that are presented to u??? dun think so. u can go and take a pic of say a really awsome restored car that u know has really expensive and good paint on and from a pic taken from a bad photographer u can make that car look crap. the car is parked in wat looks like a very poor lighted shed/carport so surly u dont expect a high res pic unless the dude has like a thousand doller camera. he has gone through a lot of effort to get it lookin like this so he deserves credit, not a list of things that dosnt look good.

Guys, not being rude, the question was asked, I am entitled to my opinion and I gave it.
IF it is being rude by giving an opinion then perhaps this forum should be shut down as it is full of opinions.
I did say the idea was good, it is just the way it was done that I did not like, and I was not the only one in the thread who has said he does not like it, only I gave reasons unlike the others

10-03-2006, 05:33 AM
I agree with both of you, but i think Mal has probably seen a lifetimes worth of dodgy jobs to recognise a bad one from a good one.
I dont see how his post was being rude?
When i showed everyone the evo spoiler, i copped alot of slack as well. You put your car out there, people will critisize it.
Now let's all hug lol.
DA_RADA
10-03-2006, 09:20 AM
i like it couor is shmick but is it a verada or a magna and it looks like it lives in the shed.this kinda reminds me of PIMPED TR a magna with 18 inch commodore rims and commodore exhaust and now its actually a verada but still using the pimped tr plates and it was a ****ty red no white lol things people do.
the closer something is to being really good or really bad, the more criticism it will attract.
of course if it were our car and our money we'd do things different but i still think it looks pretty good overall.

Looks awesome i love it, i can understand if some bits a little dodgy but sometimes people want to do things THEMSELVES and you arent an expert from the beggining and you can't become one unless you start somewhere :)
I have painted 20+ car interiors and i admit the first few sucked but hey you learn from your mistakes and practice makes perfect :)
Cheers,
Brett.

How do you do it and what do you use?
I left the motor in but removed everyting including water pump, manifolds etc etc, replaced valve stem seals and ALL gaskets and seals.
Got out the degreaser and spent many hours as this had one of the filthiest engine bays I have ever seen.
When I re assembled it all, used all new heater and radiator hoses, every part has been dismantled, checked and cleaned inside and out.
Also had sump off, all underside has been cleaned and new drive shaft seals used.
From there I just wash it, I also use silicone spray like you get in the cans for your tyres, I use this over everything in sight.
Once clean, is not hard to keep clean. I hate dirty engines, this is why this is so clean and always has been

11-03-2006, 03:55 PM
when are you coming down to melbournelol :)
wow thats alot of work, maybe ill just go over it with some degreaser for the time being.
so you mean the silicon spray as in the stuff used to stop squeaks and loosen rusty items?
wow, never knew that, well ya b**tard now it looks like i have an engine bay to clean over the holidays!

Hey guys this is a work in progress he still has lots to do before it's finished . this car is regularly driven and looks far better in the flesh but I'm biased I'm his dad.
P.S. no photoshop was hurt in the displaying of this car:rant:
Well, I'll freely admit here that I was one of the first to doubt the validity of the car and I wasn't quite sure if the car was real or not. Deal with it people. Now I'll happily say that I'd be damn proud to own a car like this one. Auto or Manual? If auto, lol @ old el paso taco. A+ for design and concept. STFU to all those who say "why bother with a TR?".
Now, don't get me wrong but why don't we actually have any posts from MADTR? Or have I missed something here?

It is strange that he can't post for himself yet his dad can get online and post.
Just as a side note, I've never heard anyone say to me "Why bother with a TR?" I mean before the DOHC conversion.

But it's ok..when I took the few people who told me not to bother for a drive when I got it done...they **** themselves and said "**** man I had NO idea it'd be like that"
Neither did I actually hahahahah
