Hi folks - hope someone may be able to offer some advice (short of going to a mechanic!). I've got a 94 TR (carby model) that's done about 250000k's. Lately, over the last month or so, the engine keeps missing when it's cold for about the first kilometer or so of driving.

Any ideas on this? Do you think it might have anything to do with spark plugs or leads?

Cheers,
Rob

No, he means it's actually missing when it's cold.. it's probably inside by the fire trying to warm up. I would be.

Yeah, misfiring - only when it gets over about 2500RPM...

Maybe the choke is incorrectly adjusted - just a thought. The choke will turn off when the car is at operating temperature so I'd have a quick look at that :)

Have you lifted the bonet and actually looked for it when it is cold? Stuff that, I would rather be in the car with the heater going

Seriously, you most likely have carb icing, this is caused when your stove pipe is broken/missing. This is the pipe that goes from the aircleaner snout to the exhause heat shield.

There is also a flap that opens and closes, check this is working
