Hi guys, just in the market for some 17 inchers, and not willing to depart company with one gorilla for vrx mags.
Just wondering if anyone out there is running on any mags off the falcon, and whether there were any issues (I believe the stud pattern is the same (114.3) but not sure on the offset or any impact a different offset on 17s would have) . It appears BA XR 17 inchers are as common as bathwater and go for about $500-600 as the owners upsize to 18s or 19s.

correct, however you might have trouble find a user named TR envy, as he has changed it to M4DDOG, or something very similar. (he doesn't drive a TR anymore).

Correct.
I only had 1 issue with the TR and that was that the rim sat about 2-3mm past the guard, i got pulled over by the cops last saturday (first time in nearly 3 years driving) and i heard one of them mention something about the rims, but they didn't say anything to me and let me go after a breath test, so unless you're a real a'hole....ANYWAY, I'm hoping that the TJ rims sit just a few mm closer inside the wheel arches and then there shouldn't be any hassles. Will find out on saturday just how well that goes :).

the rims on my magna are made to fit AU/BA falcons and the only issue i have are that i wish they were 17s as the 18s cost a smal fortune to replace and i get heaps of flats

My dads XR6T has the factory 17's and there offset is P36.5 Standard TE-TW magna mags have a P46 offset, so the effect of fitting say BA mags would be they sit further out towards the guards (smaller the offset number the further out they will sit)

BA XR rims are 114.3/5 +36 or +38 offset.
If you want XR rims, plenty for sale atm on Fordxr6turbo.com no tyres you can get em for about $150 each.
*edit* alot of the guys are buying 19" and 20" now..

I might be selling mine soon, depending on insurance.

That and the fact that they are 2" wider than stock, and by vicroads you are only allowed to go 1 inch wider, but seen as the vrx has 7" wide i'm going to ask vicroads what the deal is.

on a vrx the 17 x 7 are classed as stock so going to 17 x 8 is ok if you dont have a vrx go to mitsu and get a vrx tyre placard 99% of the cops wouldnt know any different.

I tried once to put falcon rims on the ole black TE and they stuck out too much, I would'nt think they would be legal.

With the AU model falcon onwards ford went to a front wheel drive style offset. The models before the AU on had around about a P6 offset so the wheels would hang out past the guards on a magna.
I tried my dads old ED 16" xr6 wheels on my car 5 yrs ago when he still had it and the wheels hung outta the guards

Im running speedy long champs that came of an xr6 ute. They do stick out more than standard rims and do rub a bit on full locks but other than that im happy with them.
We will just ignore the whole 7.5inch wide when i should only be legally running 7inch...

WARNING - To those who are thinking of buying ford rims, if they come with nuts, you will NEED to buy mitsubishi ones as the fords nuts are a different sized thread.

Not if you use the ones that come with your ford rims which are designed for that specific rim. I'm not exactly sure on whether you can use stock mitsu ones on aftermarket rims, but they dont seem to fit nearly as tight as after market mitsu ones that are specifically designed for mag wheels.

ford rims just use stock type tapered nuts because their spare is a steel stockie
they might be chrome with an acorn cap on them but the stock magna nuts will do the job
as long as the rims are factory ford
