had a similar problem with an accord a while back, the battery was charged fine, but there was a dead cell in the battery

yep....

dont use the multimeter to check it.. wont work.. you need to get it professionally checked at a battery place.. they use a big ass multimeter with a few other mods to it.... like the "crank voltage" or whatever...

I had lots of fun (not!) with an intermittent starting problem with my 3.5L TJ.

It turned out to be a dodgy connection between the ECU and the immobiliser control unit.

See this thread (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9208&page=6) for more details.

Cheers,
Martin.

Checked the err codes? U know how to do it? Could be the immobiliser. Wait til the engine symbol light in dash goes out and start - would it start immediately?

ok, apart from weak batteries, crappy key ring antennas also caused the cars to stall after start up!
to diagnose the problem " sort of "... rip the pastic cover under the dash, driver's side, and remove the plastic cover around the ignition barrel ( 2 screws )
follow the wiring from the key ring antenna to a white plug, which should be clipped onto the steering column.. when the car has the no start symptons.. reach down to the plug, unplug it, then reconnect.. if the car fires up, and runs after that.. i'd bet both my nuts that the antenna is causing the problem! other than replacing it, the old trick is to cut out the plug, and solder the wires together! mitsu say the problem is due to the metals in the wiring plugs not being compatible, causing some sort of mild corrosion/resistance.. hence the no start!
good luck mate

p.s: i think there are pics and instructions on removing the lower plastic cover, in the audio install section!
