No harm in getting them done, the "100000" for mager service is a falicy, in the US they do it at approx 100000 miles which is 160000 k's

don't know as yet larry should of taken it of my TJ but couldn't really bugger.
I'd be asking mechanic how he intends to clean the injectors, especially when the method of cleaning injectors by spraying carby cleaner into the throat of the combustion chamber etc. is used by alot of mechanics...simple process and easy bucks

:stoopid:
But it's not as thorough as an ultrasonic bath which has other benefits.

There are 2 ways to clean injectors, onboard and ultrasonic (off board)
The onboard is not carb cleaner sprayed into the tb, IT is highly volotile solution, that will ignite when in contact with air (if only I had some spare for my parties here), it does a good job.
The ultra sonic is better and does better and you can check the flow as well to see if you have a leaking injector

I actually used to think it was some dodgy stuff they added to your tank. Didn't think it was carbie cleaner but similar.

Bingo. APC did that with mine, identified a bad injector which ended up with me having 3.5l injectors fitted
Maybe I need to clarify what I said in my previous post. Some mechanics will take the easier and quicker way out and use carby cleaner to clean injectors(though not near as good as ultrasonic), then charge you like a wounded bull i.e. $79. That is why I would suggest you ask your mechanic what method he is going to use to clean injectors

yeah, also by cleaning your injectors while they on the car, any kind of gunk in your injectors is sprayed out into the cylinders etc, whereas the ultrasonic cleaning, they are removed and soaked in a bath and activated by voltage, hence the crap inside them is flushed out (and doesn't end up in your engine. $79 would prolly get you 3 injectors cleaned ultrasonically, so its a cheapy.

And that's if you're lucky. Ultrasonic cleaning at normal rates is anywhere from $200+ for 6.

if you got the time and the know how, its cheaper to remove them yourself and take em into an EFI specialist... saves on the labor cost of removal.

from what you said.. i think the dealer is just trying to screw you for a dodgey on car injector clean.. 79 dollars gets you nothing but an aersol can hooked up to the fuel rail! now the solution used wont clear or unblock any blocked injectors, it's basically preventative mainatnence! it's garbage normally made by wynns, fortron, and so, and on every sale, the service advisor gets 10 bucks (or about that) in cash or vouchers from the rep selling the product! even worse is, most dealership mechanics wont even use the stuff in your car.. just blow the contents out of the can into the fuel tank, or onto their tools, or the workshop floor 'cos the stuff is a good cleaner! i can safely say, with all the 3rd gen magnas i have seen come through the shop, or which i have worked on (1000+) i have never seen one with blocked injectors, ever! 2nd gen is a different story though! so, in my opinion, the on car injector clean is just a scam.. save the 79 or whatever dollars towards wiper blades and car washing products, at least they work!
