hey guys, i have done multiple searches for this but havent found anything the same.

Whenever i am in the final part of braking, ie, just before i stop, i hear a grinding coming from the front of the car. I can feel it in my pedal, and hear the low pitched grind. At first i thought it might have been my rotors as i had them re-machined and new pads about 4 months ago, took it back there and was told there was no problem with them, and it was my left hand cv joint. I had that replaced with a new one yesterday but the grinding is still there. Any ideas as to what it might be? I have recently put on wider wheels than stock, but as far as i can see that only rubs when im at full lock. I have been told by one place that my front struts are knocking, but i dont know if that would be the cause of the grinding...

please help with your wealth of combined wisdom,

lol

thanks guys..

Mark

I have the same problem i can both hear and feel a wounderful grind of some sort, took it to brakes plus and they told me that my discs needed machining but i havent done it yet and by the soiunds of your experience that isnt the cause so let me no what it turns out being if you find out.
lol dont feel like spending $100 on maching that wont fix a prob.

This happened on my sisster VR Commodore she had her brakes done and after a few days everytime she would brake a grinding and sort of vibration noise was heard so we went to someone else to have them looked at and it turned out the the 1st guy had used cheap nasty brake pads and it all had to be re-done.

Well, i've had that before.....i just asumed i had no brake pads left.....but i was going down paramatta rd in syd during peak hour....and lost my brakes all together.....after i **** myself, i had to handbrake it all the way. after awhile the brakes came back. got them checked out, and i was right.....just no brake pads left....metal grinding on metal. as for losing my brakes, that was air in the line....apparently.

mate thats real weird,

i think i'd check out both cv joints, brake pads, rotors and maybe even a wheel balance, basically anything that would even be remotally related to the brakes.
