Hi all,
Just a quick question. Been getting quite bad fuel economy lately and so I did come basic checks:- filter, fuel lines, etc. And then I checked the oil level. Found that when cold the level was near the top of the display area of the dip stick well above the level of the top indicator notch. Warmed up the engine and the oil level is still over 10mm above the level of the top indicator notch.
Would this be enough to cause over a 1.5 L/100Km fuel usage hike?
Thanks
Tim
this may sound silly, but are you wiping your dipstick clean with a rag before you check the oil level?
if so, and its reading that high, u'd probly wanna drain some out.

Yup, wiped it before each reading.
Yeah I should, but I am having some fun trying to find a bucket I can use without my wife killing me

The space between the upper and lower level on the dipstick is for a safe operating margin !
There is a bit of leadway and you should consult your service center but I cant see why it would cause such a shift in the fuel consumption !
When was the first time you noticed the change in fuel consumption and think what changed then that may have caused this ?
When was the last time you had a tune as poorly tuned cars eat gas ?
Have you checked the air preasure in the tyres flat tyres will cause a fuel usage increase ?
Have you been driving different routes than normal more up hill etc. ?
Has the wife been in a bad mood and caining the poor magna ?
Have you changed your driving habits been watching fast& the furious and think your Dom ?
Have you realeased the hand brake when driving ?
Thats about all I can think of give them a try !
