View Full Version : KR Central Locking

My KR has always done this and I've never really asked anyone.
If I lock/unlock the drivers door, only that door locks/unlocks.
If I lock/unlock from the passenger door, all the door lock/unlock (the typical way that central locking works).
Basically central locking only works from the passenger door. I think I remember being told by someone a long time ago that some cars do that for security purposes.
Can anyone tell me if this is the case and if they've had the same thing and corrected it.

Don't think so, unless the KR had a different system. My TS used to be that you could lock or unlock with either driver's or passenger.
I say "used to be", as for a while now there's been an issue with the driver's side lock, it will unlock from the passenger side, but I think there's a solenoid problem, and locking from the passenger side doesn't lock the driver's (though it attempts to). So I just make sure I lock from the driver's side. One day I'll get around to looking at it...

Try unlocking the drives side door twice, first time it will unlock the drivers door only and the second time it opens all doors, i think it does this for security reasons, my dads TJ does this aswell its normal.

Check your locking motor in the drivers door, when the door is unlocked, this should send the signal to unlock the rest.
You should be able to unlock all by either using the key in pass door or key and inside on drivers door.
i have only ever installed central locking so i dont know what the stock central locking set up looks like,
but mine is doing this aswell, this because some inconsiderate passenger repeatedly held the handle as i unlocked and it eventually ****ed up, i'll fix mine next weekend.
(note: will have remote central locking once i finish putting in my alarm, never have the time to get around to it lately)

In my KR, unlocking the drivers door with the key unlocks all doors. You can also use the remote on the key which also does all doors.
But the remote is quite old technology i'd imagine, its Infra-red (like a tv remote) and its shines from the end of the key, so you kinda have to point the back of the key to the key hole on the drives door (there is a tiny receptor under the keyhole).

We all love the KR ETACS, especially when like mine it has been bypassed and a proper alarm installed.
Was quite handy though as I have hooken all my alarm wiring up through the etacs wiring, will make near impossable for anyone to bypass besides, the control is so far under the dash, the dash has to come out to get to it will take an hour to bypass it to seal the car.....:D Only when I lose the remote am I in trouble lol:confused:

if its remote lockin try pressin the button twice, a lot of cars have 1 press drivers door, 2nd press the rest of them. But if ur usin ur key to unlock it then all of em should work. sopunds like you got a dead actuator. (lil motor that send signal to the other lock) prob need replacing, if u can juz replace the one i not to sure?
