hey thre peoples. Well thought i woudl just drop a line and see what u think of my new interior paint job. I recon it looks damn good in my 99 wagon so yeah let me know what ya recon would look good and what ya think. On a seperate note i would like to recolour my speedo area so how easy is it to respray the inside of it aswell is there any way to change the interior of it to look like the sports model speedo without spending a fortune on a new speedo? Also if ya know of anyone that has done it before and has pictures i woudl like to see.

When ya take out the air vents, the blades clip out relay easily , there is just lil notches that they clip into and yeah once u unclip them it just leaves the soround. The ciggy lighter fully came to pieces all uncliped and i think it had a screw or 2 but yeah it ended up fully cummin out and yeah looks good now, just thinking about painting my instrument cluster gt orange around all my dials so that sould be a interesting feat escpecialy not painting the transparent numbers. And then changing all the lights around the aircon unit and vertualy all the centre console to blue leds rather than tha yellow light.

On the RH Center air vent, how did you avoid painting the little pictures? Are they just glued in?
Any ideas how your going to avoid painting over the transparant numbers/pics etc?
Looking awesome though!

With the righthand side airvent piccy i ended up just tapeing them so yeah it saved them from gettin painted but all the other piccys got painted over couldnt realy see the use in saving the rest, all ya gotta do is move the slider and see what happens so yeah but yeah the righthand ones i managed to save. And as for the numbers im realy unsure maybe i have to sit down with some tape and a few free hours and tape all the numbers up or alternatively maybe have like oval patches that remain same colour around the numbers or i dunno its not going to be easy but im detirmined to do it.
oh yeah and dave thats just damn dirty but ill make sure i watch my wording around u. hahahaah nice job pickin that up and twisting it into a very ummmm comprimising phrase.

painting around the speedo is extremely easy! basically, if theres some screws you can see, unscrew them! it all comes out like clockwork.
also, changing the dials is as simple as ordering the ones from Phillcom Rally, last time i checked, i think they were around the $200 mark?

So the el spedo works differently then the normal speedo that comes wiht the mitsu, so what the light shins onto the dials rahter than shining through the dials. How much for a set of dials like that??? also how do ya get them legaly installed like do ya have to head down to the transport office and let them know since the kms on the new speedo wont be the same as what ya had?
wooley
15-03-2006, 05:27 AM
there around $200 from phillcom.
and sorry im not sure about the rest... i dont think its legal to replace anythin like that... withsomething other than stock

yeha i dont think they are legal actually, but i havent been picked on for them yet!
they just slide over the top of your standard dials, and then wire into a 12v source (i used the illumination for the cigarette lighter plug, so they work like normal

yer, they're not legal. i got pulled over for a random breath test the other night and my who interior was lit up blue  i was behind a taxi that was taking ages to we got to talking, and he sticks his head right in the window right in front of my face looking at my blue EL dials and goes.. "so are they stock?" i go "hahaha absolutley" and he laughed it off. He then told me its not legal and i said righteo officer, and luckily the taxi in front had finished and drove off.
I probobly should turn them off in future with the switch, but then its pitch black and i cant see what speed im doing... but less attention anyway.
What about a dimmer switch???
Asylum
15-03-2006, 09:21 PM
yeah they come with a dimmer switch, definately helps, but still easy to spot that they're not factory

Probably the auto-gear selector display in the dash with the manual gear shifter.
Gotta love the manual conversions!
