View Full Version : power steering pump problem
after my rebuild, the car seems to make a very annoyng squeeking sound when i have the car on full lock, it seems to be coming from the powersteering pump, does any one have a solution to this problem?

Dont hit full lock...you shouldn't really hit full lock with power steering anyway, you're "supposed" (ie: who really does?) to stop just a bit before it.
Make sure your power steering lines have been bled a lot, you will have to do it a few times since the lines have been drained (Im assuming thats the case when the engine was out).

tighten the belt

u just need to tension the belt a little bit, i got my belt and adjusting bracket replaced (my bracket snapped, but thats in a different thread) and mine started to do this, its just the belt slipping a bit, just tighten it up a little and it should shut up lol , u should be able to do this easily.
if u still have the 4 cyl astron engine in there u might wanna get it done sooner rather than later as the belt runs the power steering pump and alternator, so if the belt rubs enough and snaps, comes off etc.... You'll lose your alternator
