I finally took the TF out of the shed after ages of sitting and took for a nice 400km drive saturday.
After driving about 100km with the air con going I could smell what I thought was leaking fuel which I have smelt before after long drives in warmer weather. I dunno why but I turned the air con off and it went away within two mins. So I turned it on again and it came back, turned it off and it went away.. etc etc etc.

Has anyone else had this? My air con still has the same a/c gas since factory so i'm thinking it may be leaking. Over the last 2 years the coldness has slightly dropped but very little.

The plastics/foam used in the AC vents often vent some solvents initially when in use. But this smells like new car smell.

Anyone know what AC gas smells like?

I don't think it could be that, it kinda smells like half burning fuel and half gas. It only does it when the a/c has been on for a while and usually on hot days, otherwise it's a pretty clean system, the car has been garaged its whole life.

I just remembered something.. back when i was workin for Nissan they used to give Air con treatments. From memory this was a can of spray that was injected into something underneath the passenger side dash, a hole was drilled, spray was injected, and the hole was plugged. But, maybe the plug has come out? I'm not sure. Anyone heard of these treatments and could I be on the right track?

right on..... theres a can of spray you can use to that kills all the **** bacteria and crap in there.....
