After thinking about it alot of been trying to decide wheather it will actually be worth getting my 93' TR Resprayed, and cleaned up. It has quite a few paint blemishes and it looks like this pink/purple car when the sun reflects on it a certain way (and I hate it). I just want to get it resprayed a nice simple black or a grey, but i'm hearing it's going to cost $2000+ which is 2/3's of what I paid for the car.

I just want to know if anyone knows of a price range to respray my car. And if you really think it's worth it or not.

You'd want to keep it the same or a least a very similar colour as what you have already. Respray prices jump dramatically when its a completely different colour as not only do they have to spray the body but also the door jambs, under the hood, engine bay, behind trim etc etc.

A respray of a similar colour would probably be a good 800-1000 cheaper then an alternative colour.

what kind of paint blemishes? as in paint has tottally faded from the car? no clear coat?
have you tryed giving it a full detail yet?

if its THAT bad IMO you would be better off selling that car and finding the V6 Variant:)

Well it has all these dot marks on the bonnent like someone has got like a pen object and just drop it on the car about 50 times. Around my left hand indicator (front) the bonnent it dinted and paint is wrecked. Left side needs some body work and a respray aswell. I could still go a grey and be happy if that's cheaper but i'd prefer black.

Best to sell up and buy a car in better condition. I sold my KF Verada for that very reason. A respray was 4000 and an upgrade too a TJ VRX (immaculate) was 5000 more, so yeah it's not worth it

Yeah i'm kind of cursing myself, because I didn't relise how cheap 3rd gens were, and I could have afforded it. Oh well I'll keep this car till it starts costing me too much money.

Not worth respraying, might as well sell ur car and buy one the colour you want, would work out cheaper.

Thing is i've only had the car for just over a month. I think i'll sell up before the rego ends in december, get a better price! Thanks for the advice everyone.

a problem with that line of thinking (just 'buying' another colour) Is there isn't always another magna with the colour you want in fantastic condition. I have a red TR v6 exec and I think the paint is pretty shocking and I've already spent money on the car so really I'd prefer to stick with a car I know atleast a bit about and ride it until it's dead. After-all what's worse, having a great car with **** paint, dead engine/gearbox or having a car you know the life of and getting a better colour? Then again I think I'm just the type to keep a car and make it how I want it and then drive it till it dies rather than sell it at every hiccup along the way

I agree with you Nick to a degree, but theres a point at which you have to say, am i spendin more on the car than its worth. If a good paint job wasn't important to him i'd say keep the car he has. But if he wants immaculate paint, then i personally think it'd be a waste of money to do it to a car thats worth less than the paintjob. But it's up to him :).

if you really think it's worth it or not.

Nope..

Unless you plan to keep it for a bloody long time..

Well to answer bain, no not really. I don't plan on keeping it that long. It's my first car. It's the car you can have accidents in and a few bumps and scracthes. I know too many friends who have bought expensive japanease cars (180's, Skyline's) spent close to $5000-$10000 getting them looking nice and sweet, and then go write it off or stuff it up because they're still "learning".

I now think it'd be best not to consider a paint job cause I know I will have a few more minor incidents. For instance, 2days after having the car the front left indicator was broken and the bonnet/bumper area damaged due to underjudging the driveway. Imagine I just got a paint job and did that, what a waste? Once again thanks to everyone who has commented!
