Because I keep getting questions Re: Para Wiring hear is a quick swap guide.

THIS IS FOR 3rd GEN ONLY

1. Remove old headlights, This is a good start and makes putting the Para's in alot easier
remove washer bottle and battery cover.
remove the spring holding in the indicators.
remove all bolts hold in the old headlights, 1 bolt from underneath the guard.
pull them out.

2. Do the wiring conversion, this is the easy part but don't get it wrong cause you'll blow your fuses.

go to Auto Barn or any Auto parts store and get a two prong headlight plug, or if you want just mod your own.

on both plugs which ever you use only the left and right conectors are used the centre one is not used at all.

HIGH BEAM LIGHTS

LEAVE THEM ALONE YOU DON"T NEED TO MOD THEM.

LOW BEAM LIGHTS

Drivers Side

Wires are,

White with Red Stripe = Positive THIS IS THE ONE YOU WANT

Red with White Strip Negative NOT USED

Red = Negative NOT USED

Connect White with Red Strip to one side of the plug

Connect a Black wire (black is used as negative) to the other side and connect to the earth point on the side of the guard, you'll know which one as it has lots of wires connected to it.

Passengers side

Wires are,

Red with Blue Stripe = Positive THIS IS THE ONE YOU WANT

Red with White Strip Negative NOT USED

Red = Negative NOT USED

Connect Red with Blue Strip to one side of the plug

Connect a Black wire (black is used as negative) to the other side and connect to the earth point on the side of the guard, you'll know which one as it has lots of wires connected to it. this one is harder to get to as it's under the fuse box.

This is what I have done, you don't need relays etc unless you really want to, with this configeration the Low beam will stay on always (when you turn them on) and High beam only when you switch them on.

PARK LIGHTS

a/ I removed the parklights from my standard headlights and fitted them to my Para's, I removed the blanks that were in the para's and enlarged the hole slightly and pushed them in. TEST FIT THEM BEFORE YOU FIT YOUR NEW HEADLIGHTS.

3. Fit your new Parabolic Headlights, if you smart you'll fit the bulbs before you put them in. once fitted push the new plugs onto the bulb connectors and test them before you bolt them in. just to make sure they work.

If I've made a mistake on theis let me know and I'll fix it.

I hope this helps.

This is for a 99 TH but should be the same for most.

Interesting.

I'm pretty sure I earthed the negative on each side (not the positive), and they work as you've described.

Would it make a difference??

I never tried that myself, I might give it a go on the week end and make up a shorter guide.

I dont think is a matter of shorter guide guys, I had to keep asking around as the wiring was confusing until you wrote this one up and with help of other members, they also gave in their input which gives a clearer pic. I will try and include pics for the steps that were taken here and hopefully this thread REMAIN sticky(request). As in the begining many have quoted millions of threads about this, is kind of over rated.

Again thanks all who contributed.

Holy crap!

I really sweat blood fitting the paras in! The problem I felt is not in the wiring at all.

Some how the fitting is a really a tight fit I believe the standard bracket played a part in this difficulty which made the side indicators HARD to fit.

Special thanks to:

Heath young, DVS, Ashneel, JO_KING, PhilsTH, WTCHME, TJ Sports

I was so busy that I couldnt take the pics for fitting in.

Here are the following advice:

1. Get cable connectors to enable easy connecting of wires.

2. Get some ground ends to allow the cable to ground to the body of the car.

3. If possible, get an extra person to help you in fitting the lights, is hard to mount the lights yourself.

4. You will need a round file to file the bracket for the Parkers. BE SURE YOU do this and ensure the PARKERS can fit! Ensure they can be taken off too. A good note to add is you should change ALL your GLOBES at this point!

Paras use:
H7 for head lights
H1 for Highbeams
and the same parkers from your standard.

As DVS as stated you only NEED ONE WIRE that to be left untouch on each side. To make things easy, just cut the FULL RED WIRE and connect the RED wired to extra cable to be ground. (negative)

On each side of the car, there are grounding points, just connect the wire to each side of the grounding piont.

One more advise is to do this in the sarly day so that you wont struggle at night like I did.
There is a second method suggested by TJ_sports but I didnt get it to work. However I would try and do this another day.

Thanks all! I hope this thread would help others on how to fit their paras.

Hey, Nexus. It's great to hear that you've settled yours. I bought mine way earlier than you but i'm still no where near fitting. Sigh... Still waiting for the damage claim to the paras that i bought. It's been > 1 month now since that fateful day. Hope it gets sorted in a couple of weeks time so i get the compensation and go grab another replacement. Actually "hunt" for a replacement is a more suitable word.

hehehe, I fitted Diamond visions and silvervisions for the whole light assy.

My paras didnt came with brackets, just the paras. I had to use my standard. Is that the main problem why I find it difficult to fit them in?
Can I buy this bracket?

Is in, but LOT OF EFFORT needed. In which if my bulbs for indicators goes means I am going to sweat again. Tip guys, get the bracket if possible, it would save you heaps of troubles.
The alignment would be better I think.

As for wiring when I initially did not ground any wires, the lights will not turn on till I flash or turn on the highbeams for my case.

I hope thatthis thread will help all potential paras modding.

You have to be patient Eddie and it will pay off. Please use all the advice that were given here. You may want paras brackets if you didnt had any. Also alter the parker bracket assy .
Please keep me updated, I hope you get back some cash for it. For future members please ensure you pay a bit more to insure them to prevent future mishaps.

Hey all. Not an urgent need as I am currently broke, but I searched around for a set of para’s for three hours on the net the other night and couldn’t find any in aus or the us, and there was no mention anywhere of the old lexus style tail lights (the TH to TJ ones you need to swap over a boot lid with to fit on my TE). I reckon the TE/F frosted ones look  poxy.

Anyone know where these could be sourced, as I reckon the standard tail lights on a white car look crap and para’s are nice indeed.

Not to be rude but could you please just restart a new thread on tail lights rather than messing up the strictly paras topic as this will remain cleanly on paras fitting and wiring thread.

To your question, you need the boot lid swap as mentioned by many. Yes the frostered ones are not to some people's liking, including myself. Source them from ebay and people here in the Sale/Wanted threads, else goto wrecker and get the necessaity for them.
