despite numerous comments about these bottle ones doesnt work, i bought one anyway just to try it. Wynns injector cleaner. as my car has done over 130k, i dont think it ever had an injector clean in its life, as i bought it at around 100k from a company.

anyway what im curious about is what should i do now the stuff is in it? should i open it up? like redline it, or a bit of smooth hwy driving? (newby Q lol )

I put some in last week, made my idle more consistent and revs smoother. Can't remember if it was wynns or some other brand.
I'd say just drive normally and it should do its thing. Of course the occasional blast wont hurt :D

:stoopid:

The stuff is more than likely solvent based - so it will need time to work. In other words, don't expect to notice the difference the first time you drive it. Only other thing I would say is, wait until your tank (tank with the injector cleaner added) is almost empty before refilling it. If you refill when you have 1/4 of a tank left - you will dilute the remaining solvent to the point where it has no effect, and therefore you have literally wasted 1/4 of the bottle.

Also - I wouldn't count on the fact it has never had a bottle of that stuff put thru it. You'd be surprised how many mechanics insist on adding stuff like this during services - probably accounts for most of the cases of people who think their car drives better after a service.

i use it quite often (well, now i do), I noticed it ran smoother, for sure, it was a huge improvement, but after a while it wears off, which is telling me i need my injectors cleaned!

good value for the $10 or so you pay for a bottle

btw, super cheap, nulon bottle that does 3 tanks is like $10 so get some of that stuff:)

i wouldnt be surprised if it was all a sham and the 'cleaner' was an octane booster to give the impression that the car is performing better because of it.
if you really care about your car, don't skimp on it and do it properly, spend the money to get it serviced properly and put decent oil in it, and get the injectors cleaned ultrasonically by an EFI specialist

Actually, a lot of them mention on the label somewhere that it has an octane booster in it.

i just got a 50ml bottle of flashlube injector cleaner (less than $5), which is supposed to treat 50L of fuel.

has anyone used the NOS injector cleaner? i think a bottle of that is like $20-30 and treats 16 gallons (i think, not sure how much it is in litres). is it any better than the cheaper (flashlube, etc.) brands? or do you just pay the extra $ for the pretty bottle it comes in?
seems like it must be a lot more diluted too, it a huge bottle compared to the little flashlube ones, and they both treat about one full tank.

yeah i would think the more concentrated will work better than diluted, so wouldnt it be better to put a bottle into half tank of petrol instead of a full tank as than it will be more concentrated?

thats all very well in theory, but i think there is a risk of overdoing it....some bottles say something to the effect of : "do not use more than twice between oil changes", and so i suspect it may actually have a detrimental effect if concentrated more than what is prescribed on the bottle.

I use injector cleaner regularly... dunno if it works, just makes me feel better. :)

I don't follow instructions, I usually add 1 bottle to a half-tank then run till tank is empty.
At fill-up I'll add a 2nd bottle to a full tank. Drive "normally".

Injector cleaner is a high power solvent - whilst it is squirting out inside your engine
some of it will sneak into the oil and dilute it... that's why you shouldn't use it every tank.
Diluted oil is thinner (dipstick level RISES!) and not very good for your engine.

So my treatment is always only done 2 tanks before an oilchange.

When I had my service done in Feb on the TH(I like to give a newly purchased car a good srvc) the guy at mitsu asked if I wanted to use this fuel system cleaner stuff, cost extra $15 and apparently they spray it into the T/B and the injectors and it cleans them up.

Difference was there(couldve been from the srvc too and I had only had car a few weeks) it idled smoother and took off from standstill a lot smoother and felt a tad quicker.

Jet engine use kerosene as fuel, so STP is made up mostly of kerosene?

For good strong dose of injector cleaner, use Redline SI-1.

i also heard that the dirt these stuff "meant" to clean off goes to your filter? thats why its good to do it a few tanks before you change your engine oil

cant you just fill up with premium fuel for a while?
doesnt that stuff clean your motor as well as giving you more power?
is cleaner and has a higher octane level

Doesn't the bottle say treats 2 tanks? So when you will up next, you whack half a bottle in.

well cantdo much damage putting the whole bottle in, but you should do it for 2-4 tanks, so run half a bottle every time.

remember your car is probably near 200,000K's so the injectors would be rooted anyway
