I have been reading a heap of issues with the TL magna's, I was wondering if the TW's suffered the same issues or were most fixed seeing as it was a series 2 ?
Thanks

I dont remember all the issues i read about, things like, seats moving, something regarding the rear windows, cluth issues, trouble with car starting etc etc. I currently owe a ***** of a car with constant minors problems with repeat dealer visits! and i dont want another one like that if i can help it...I thought the TW VRX manual would be a good car, now im a little unsure.

TWs were pretty stable cars, with no major quality or reliability issues coming to mind. The majority of the quality issues that became apparent in the previous 8 years of making 3rd gens were fixed. From memory the TL had in some limited circumstances fuel injection issues, and issues with the fit of the drivers seat, but I believe these were fixed f0or the TW.
Some people have minor, infrequent issues, but then again, so do Merc/BMW owners.
the only issue i find is there ugly..
Comming from someone who drives a R31 Skyline - thats amusing

but still, you havent had the car very long and been to the dealer 3 times already for warranty work? And i know many others have had to do the same (including my dads TW, rear electric windows broke, electric seat broke, cup holder).
I know its warrantly work so it doesnt cost, but it would be a nuisance surely. It however seems to be a trend with most new cars

now now, no need to take one persons opinion personally. A lot of people do find the front of the TL's ugly, so what?
By the end of the Magna, all of the inherent problems that Magna had TP onwards had been fixed, and the Magna was a quality car by TW. My TL is three years old in June. It has had NO problems with it. It has been to the dealer six times, for the biannual service, but not for warranty work. I was reading yesterday, that with the Commodore recall, they have had 8 recalls during the VT lifetime (VT-VZ), the Falcon had 6 from AU (AU-BF), and the Third Gen Magnas have had 3. Three in 10 years isn't bad.
I have more faith in my Magna than I did in my Corolla when I was a P Plater.

Thats my personal opinion on R31 Skylines - So what - Alot of people find them ugly too

I know a couple of people with R31's who think they're "fully sick", i just laugh at them lol. And the fact that one of them paid $10,000 for one, AND then told me i should have bought a skyline instead of my new magna  .

I am anyone. I like the look of the TL, Especially the VR-X over the TJ series. The nose looks sleek, which is just right for the 'Sports' models.
Just remember folks, don't feed the trolls.

If everyone thinks its ugly why do people buy them for then? lol What happened to your public profile mate? Why did you get rid of the description of the car you own? lol

haha, geez, people take things so personally about their TL. While i dont think "everyone" thinks the TL front is ugly, on other forums i have heard it time and time again that the "new" shape magnas are not liked.
Personally i think a dead stock exec TL/TW is ugly COMPARED to a dead stock TJ exec, but i like the TW VRX.
Also, this is not a thread about old skylines, its a thread about TW VRX's
I've had more compliments on the look of my TL magna then I did on my TF and the TF was autosalon worthy.

Yeh I know. People base their opinions too much on the base models. A dead stock commodore, falcon or camry exec is also ugly.

In my opinion, it depends on the model and colour of the TL/TW. My fav is the TL/TW VRX in silver, completely colour coded with the ralliarts enkei 17's. It would be the one I'd get if I choose to upgrade. Midnight blue is ok too.

In our TL we had the squeaking rear window issue. It was annoying.
Ive seen a starting issue on an dedicated LPG TL. Where 7 times out of ten it wouldn't start if you put the key in and turned it all the way to start. However it would start 10/10 times if you turned the key to on waited for about 10secs then started it. NFI why.
Our TW VRX had a little issue where one of the front seats would move back and forward ever so slightly if you rocked in it, or youd sometimes notice coming to a stop.

these are the only probs i have had with the tl vrx in the 2 1/2 years :-
1: faulty exterior rear view mirrors - when sun hit then, couldn't see thru them. REPLACED
2: rough idle - base idle set too low. RESET
3: faulty fuel gauge - was only getting 350 km from FULL to 1/4 EMPTY. REPLACED PART OF GAUGE IN DASH.
4: broken left hand side window wiper. REPLACED.
all 4 things where replaced or fixed under warranty.

Last year I had a TW ES company car for a couple of months. I had the same problem with the windscreen wiper, but the only other thing I noticed was that every so often the front passenger door would close with the window stuck out - the glass wouldn't slot into the rubber mouldings. So I just closed it with the window down, then pushed it up.
But yeah TW VR-X looks sweet as, and KL Verada GTVi in black looks pretty good too:)

Just adding something, I could not fault the mechanicals of Magnas going back to my mother's TF V6 Exec even. That TF, what a bloody engine! Sweetest sounding 6 to ever feature in an Aussie car to date, 380 and BF Falcon in second!:D
