ok just wondering if any one knows excatly wat im gonna need to get the 3ltr 6G72 engine turbo'd,

just wanting to know everything that will be needed

Dave would be the man to talk to about this, but i will give u a quick list of what i can think of.

this is to run any sort of worth while boost.

turbo
manifold
new exhaust
new computer(dont think a piggyback would manage too well would it???)
intercooler
strengthened/forged pistons
valves and springs
BOV/wastegate of some sort (are they needed??? FIIK)

ohh and the VL turbo badge that every1 with a turbo car (some even not turboed) puts on their cars.

I can't think of nething else, but like i said, i am no professional. this is just what i came up with from the quite limited knowledge i have of mechanics, every1 is welcome to add or take from that list.

i rang my mate he said to get my engine balanced, stronger conrods, rings, different compression plates, copper gaskets, stronger pistons and rings

still need an accurate list though so can oredr the parts nice and cheap

HELL YES!! without this badge, you'd loose a good 5pound of boost straight away!! :lol:

Nah, I'd take a Turbo badge off the XR6T. Could you go a plumb back instead of using a BOV? Personally I can't stand Look-a-me-valve. Everyone who recommends a decent performance turbo setup says to forget about a BOV.

i dont think you'll need to do those internal engine mods, unless you're going for a high power (twoybo greater than about 8psi) upgrade!! the 6G engines are very strong in that regard!!

the cams and springs would be a worth while mod though!!

so just change compression and cams should be good enough to run a standard 8psi with a single gT28 garret ballbearing ?

Apparently the max strength of the 6G72 stock internals is still unknown.

If you're running low boost, I dont think you'll have to change internals.

But I'd definitely be doing some head work and cam swap before the turbo's go on to make the most of it.

DEFINITELY a port and polish on the sohc 12v. They need it.

i rang some places bout it and they reackon this engine is crap,
and the gearbox will blow up pretty much straight away and wouldnt be worth the time unless u were a mechanic and could do all the work yourself becuase its a big job to do and will cost shit loads

but i can get all the parts that i need cheap its just which ones i will definatly need so that i can get this project underway
