Hey everyone sorry to start a new post, but I thought what the heck! Lol
Well I finally finished painting the interior of my car, so now its all finalised and installed and in my opinion it looks great :D I love it.
The job all up was easy; underestimating how much paint I needed was the killer! Instead of taking me 1 day it took me 3 and a half days to finish  since the paint I got was a specialized paint in and it had to be ordered! Wasn’t expensive thou $8 a tin :) needed 5 of them thou  I didn’t sand back at all I just cleaned down the plastic with Metho then applied a primer base coat! After those 4 coats of violet went down then a day letting it dry then on went 4 coats of acrylic clear coat! Then that got left overnight to dry then I installed it into my car! Simple as pie.... mmm pie

as u cant see really well around instrument cluster here is another pic!
heh, nice job....doesn't suit my personal taste...kinda looks like a cartoon.
Good job anyway though.
btw, do the inside of the gauges too. like the surround around teh dials. its easy
Looks good!
May i suggest taking it out and Armoralling all your black vinyl's/plastics.. it will improve the look alot and give it a deeper colour.

Ok, in my opinion, the colour choice is absolutely horrible, but thats me :). Otherwise it looks like you've taken your time and the actual paint has come up well.

Thanks. I know allot of people find the colour a little ...well different, but im not gay but that purple is my favourite colour! I do need to armour all the rest of car.... I’m just about to head out and do that!
If u give me a few weeks after I get another tin of that paint in. I will be doing the cluster inside and the side air vents just to make it look real Compleat!
i will be doing the cluster inside
Leave the cluster, otherwise it will look to bland. (read all the same colour)

You've done a good job. My only concern is that it's going to affect your resale value unless you change the colour before selling it. You have reduced the likelihood of any male buyers buying it with the purple interior as it does look very feminine.
Spending $40 on painting your console, although expensive, may end up costing you several $100, if potential buyers are shyed away when it comes time to sell it. I strongly suggest you don't paint the rest of your interior purple for this reason, but at the end of the day it's your car, and if you can find a female potential owner who is impressed enough by it to pay more, than you're alright.

It's very........ purple.
Good paint job though. I'm planning on doing mine sooner or later, when I can be bothered. Probably either go traditional boring old silver, or spray it Arctic Blue, same as exterior.
Took me a while to realise what was wrong with the fourth pic. I guess I'm tired today.
By the way, seeing as the paint takes a while to dry, are the cars still OK to drive without the console plastics in? (ie: is there any problems with exposed parts on shifters or gauges etc) Or would I be better off getting a set of plastics from a wreckers, and painting them, then swapping them in one hit?
Personal I find the colour fugly, but the finish is nice :)
Has anyone tried doing this in CF yet?

Cool. I might still get a console from a wreckers anyways. I put more thought into it and remembered that I tend to **** things like this up majorly, so wanna have a spare one to play with :bowrofl:

spray cans are the easiest!!! brush on would leave marks and u wouldnt be able to get it so evenly matched

yah funky colour, i kinda like it  im not gay either tho if i went a purple i would go a darker colour
tho i am gunna go aainst everybody else, its an ok paint job, but u can tell he hasnt sanded between coats... or at all, all the orange peel! and lack of a nice reflection
its just a personal thing, if ur gunna paint sumthing, it better be dam shiny
as for VP's comments, hes right i need to goto wreckers to replace my sprayed up console from my TF, but the new TJ already had it painted so im happy enuff to repaint that. Im gnna do sumting different too this time around, i got silver (boring) in right now, but im gunna go a nice gloss black this time

 I love the colour. Put that on my list of things to do.;)
Are all TF seats grey, purple and green like mine?
I notice your window tint isn't very dark and I'm wondering how much unwanted attention this will attract.:doubt:

wat do u guys mean buy orange peel???
wat do u guys mean buy orange peel???
Look at the skin of an orange then look at the pictures of the painted areas. They look the same (hence why the call it Orange peel).
You get the same effect by not sanding (smoothing out) the spray jobs inbetween each coat of paint.
The dash cluster is the best one to look at if you want to see what [THUGDOUT] is probably referring to.

yah, all pics u can tell but if u eally wanna see it look at the left hand side of the dash cluster, looks like the skin of an orange peel which is why ppl call it orange peel
its the reason why u sand between layers coz when u spray paint on or paint it on its doesnt go on smooth, the smoother ur paint (or any surface for that matter) the more it will reflect

well you can but if you have the HU surround out of the car it involves un plugging the hazzard light switch. which will make the lighting circuit incomplete and then you wont have any indicators.... seriously......i did this and ran outta paint so went arround to the hardware store to get some more i got half way down the road and went **** no indicators. ohwells

i agree with this!!
i had the cluster surround out with the dashlight dimmer... if u take that out it cuts the circut ending up with no dashlights!

heh i had my hazard lights unplugged when i did my alarm and realised i had no indicators, had to reach around to the back seat and grab the piece with the switch in it at the next lights and quickly plug it back in
spent the next week with that piece of plastic resting on my dash lol (work hinders progress :()

lol...to be honest, it makes me wanna vomit......not because of the colour so much....but it looks too glossy, would hate to see the sun glare off it......and not to mention how hard it would be to sel the car like it....you just took about $2000 value of it!
just my opinion though...as long as your happy with it it's all that matters!
