I was wondering if the tr/ts efi astron has the same engine mounts as the tp one. Also if i will need to put in a gen2 ecu etc.

I need a car that doesnt smoke very soon as i drive at least a 100km a day with a little grey mist following me around. Its only a matter of time before the boys in blue have a chat with me.

the motor is the same... the gen1 efi will fit the gen2 motor... it's jsut a swap over really... you can use the gen2 efi if you want a little bit more power, otherwise gen1 efi will work fine... only difference between motors is internally... gen2 motor has roller rockers, knock sensor, different compression, etc etc

hold on if that fits then can the v6 manual gearbox fit? if so does that mean u can fit the 6g72 DOHC TT
But ofcourse thats only if the v6 gearbox fits, right? Excluding the engine mount thing

Well didn't the nz gen1 have a 3l v6? im assuming the same as the one in the gen2.

:D

Anyways i need an engine fast so would i need to change over any plugs/relays/switches etc to drop in a gen2 motor / box?

i want the 4 in mine not the six. The six is too complicated :P

is it just a case of drop it in, hook it up plug in the electronics and your off?

i got offered a TR SE for $780 but the motor needs a reco, just like mine :P

you wont need to change any thing electrical unless your putting 2nd gen efi which wouldnt be worth it plus the 2nd gen plenum is only mm away from the firewall so if you dont have good mounts it will hit it
also gen2 gearbox's wont fit

ok thanks for that :D

thats what i wanted to hear.

I'm on the look out now for a tr/ts that has been crashed into from the back/side but has a good engine.
