Just woundering what you guys have on your TR/TS 2.6 4cyc engine.

After putting in my cleraned and fixed radiaitor I also replaced hoses and a brand new thermo stat. I am finding the gauge is reaching 1/2 way and staying there with both fans turning off and on while idle or at lights and also 1/2 way while on the high way were as before it dropped to nearly 3/4. Also this new thermo stat was a little odd as it's off centre they all were on the rack.

i have a '94 TR, 2.6L 4cyl (manual, if you wanted to know) and after it's warmed up, the temp guage really doesn't move at all, it just sits at about half way.

whether i drive hard or drive like a granny doesn't really make a difference, or whether i'm driving in town, highway or hills and stuff. temp guage just sits at about half.

Ok does sound normal then.

By the look of things it still had the original thermo stat never been replaced.

I remember when I first got my 93' TR it always sat at the centre but you could smell the engine being really hot. After speaking to a few people (the majority of responses were "Halfway is normal") I just lived with it. Although I found it strange the car would be immediately half way as soon as I started it. Went to a radiator place, check the radiator, there was that much crap inside you couldn't see anything, and my overflow, would overflow all the time! After a clean and etc. The car's temp gauge now starts from the bottom and needs to be warmed up a bit before driving.

Half Way is normal, don't worry!

Yes, it should sit on HALF all the time, but if air con on on a hot day, dont be suprised if it moves up and down a bit.

It's all cool just wanted to know before I went on a long trip last weekend apart from a slight pinging which turned out to be retarded timing wasn't checked after the timing chain and guides were replaced.
