View Full Version : TE Stall Problem after Rapid Braking

My 97 TE Advance Auto has a bit of an issue when you come to a stop from high speed (80-100). It only seems to happen after cruising for a while, then coming to a complete stop at a set of traffic lights. Just as the car comes to a stop, the idle goes too low and the engine nearly stalls. Seems to happen more when braking to a stop on a downhill descent. If I back off the brake after stopping (reducing engine load??), and then re-brake it recovers. Braking from 60 isn't a problem. It only happens from 80 or higher.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Walker

Take in to a Mitsu dealer for service it will be the gearbox computer. Thats what it was on hers. Been fine ever since

Aaaargh - it's already had one computer replacement. The first one died one month after the warranty ended. (but to Mitsubishi's credit, they replaced it and only charged me labour)

Thanks for the response.
