If you want to buy it, buy it. Advertising a cheap car that you intend on buying over the internet is generally not a good idea, because someone else could buy it. This is the 5th thread you've made regarding your crash / replacement. Just buy it.

That's why you only buy a car if you can afford insurance for it. I have very little sympathy for people who break the bank to buy a car, try taking shortcuts by not insuring it, and then cry poor when they damage it. It's called living beyond your means; some people understand it, others continue to experience the headaches and problems associated with it for the rest of their lives.
If you don't intend on paying for insurance to cover your own car this time around, I recommend you buy a very cheap car to get around in until you can. There's no point taking a loan out for $4.5k + on road costs for an uninsured car if you write that off too.
You need financial help in the short-term, not the long-term. If you were smart, you'd sell your Nissan Silvia, sell the stereo and mags on your Verada separately, sell your Verada as a whole, and use the cash to buy a decent car in good working condition with insurance. Then in 12 months time once you've built up enough cash, you can buy a Verada AND a Nissan Silvia, both better than your current ones if you really wanted to.

I'll stop "paying you out" aka giving you advice that you don't want to hear, when you stop making multiple threads about the same thing. Deal?

i appreciate your advice but i am so damn pissed off confused and have no money this prick that crashed into me is leaching me dry for everything... even though my insurance company is taking care of him he is bieng a prick and wants my money! plus i have not got a roadworthy car i got a trashed verada and a silvia my brother gave me which is also pretty rooted up!

How can he be leaching you dry personally when the insurance covers it all, and you just pay excess, or is there something I'm missing?
As a last resort, have your parents offered to lend you some money?
So you try and cross a 4 lane road, without looking to see if there are any cars in the way, and it's the councils fault? At least take responsibility for it mate.

hey mate back off a bit, u r telling him what YOU would do, but not in a constructive way, ur abusing him for making multiple threads on his being written off, how would u feel in his situation, and dont say crap about "i wouldnt get myself in that situation in the first place" cos anything could happen, have u even known someone who has written of a car, sometimes u can be to blame even whe its not your fault,
my bro wrote off his car not because someone hit him or he is a bad driver, but he checked his blind spot and look forward again and the traffic had stopped, he ran into the back of one car, and that hit another,
and my friend wrote off his car as he was driving back through the hills from work and a possum ran in front of his car and he panicked and swerved, he started sliding over the road trying to regain control as he couldnt let it try gain traction itself ot it would have been him into a cliff face or off a cliff, eventually he regained control but he was on the wrong side of the road and moved back over, just to hit a pot hole on the line in the middle of the road and swerve into the cliff face, writing off his car.
Very scary for the passengers, but i can at least understand what they have gone through, dont go FORCING advice to someone, or abusing them once they have written off their car, as they are completely edgy, and need all the support they can get

You're not making much sense mate, i agree with VP, seems like you're trying to pass the blame onto someone else and going for the sympathy vote from us.
In regards to the verada: No such thing as verada manual (unless its been converted, doubtful). It wont be tiptronic either. It'll be a plain old 4 spd auto :). Not a bad price though, and if you transfer over all your goodies then it could turn into a great car. Just make sure you get it insured, especially if you have to get a loan for it.

If you have 3rd party your insurance company will cover you for any loss or damages resulting in the accident to other people, thats the whole point of insurance. If he's trying to get money out of you, dont listen to him and tell him to take it up with your insurance company. They'll sort it all out for you.

Thanks for the stories. The point I'm trying to make is that
a) take responsibility for your own actions - this was not the councils fault
b) There is a means of preventing this sort of thing from happening - insurance
c) buy something that you can afford to maintain if you don't want headaches
These are things the bloke has to hear so hopefully he doesn't get stuck in the same situation again. Especially since he says his parents are in a worse situation from him, he problem hasn't had much financial advice from them (no offense). There's no nice way of putting it, and I'm sorry if I came across as harsh but I do have good intentions otherwise I wouldn't be wasting my time responding and trying to help him.

lol, back on topic then, lol,
i think u should at least go check it out, if it seems to be in good condition then maybe get a check on it by RAA or whatever it is where you are, ask them why it isnt registered and if they say its because they are going over seas, (which i think would be a load of crap answer), ask them who was the main driver just so you have an idea on how it was driven, whether there was any mods done to it, such as lowered, tint, ehaust etc.. If so get them checked to see if they are illegal, and dont forget to ask what problems they had with it.
Make sure when buying the car to check the boot for the spare, and jack and check to see how the air con works, o and the rear demister

Actually I know a friend that bought a car which was from an owner "going overseas". He asked for the plane tickets lol and they showed him, so although they're not obliged to show you, ask them to give you some proof that they are indeed going overseas if you're concerned about their authenticity, even just travel brochures etc

But remember dont go in there and ORDER them to show them to you, be kind and if they show them to you GRAB THE TICKETS RUN AND SELL THEM TO GET SOME MORE MONEY FOR YOUR CAR  jks. But seriously remember to be polite and calm that way they might lower the price a bit or give you prioritory,
Personally if i was selling my car i would make sure the person im selling it to would look after it, i care about it to much :D

I guess I missed something, but how is it beneficial to check that the person really is going overseas? Generally I'd expect that if they're really going overseas then they'll be desperate to offload the vehicle, as it sure won't do them any good to own a car in another country.
I'd be more worried about someone selling a dodgy car and then taking off overseas leaving you with no recourse if it all goes pear shaped. I'd be double checking the ownership details before worrying about the tickets overseas.

if you can afford full comp, you can afford the car. i'm on full comp and you can't go wrong if anything happens. don't buy a verada only coz u want to keep your pride. you only get envied by people if you can afford every nut and bolt to keep your car together. its not worth any short cuts, you have already been thought a lesson, learn from it and not be neive.

also if u cant get the cars numbers eg.engine, chassis ect ect then go on the revs web page or ring them and then u can find out if the cars been stolen, used in a robbery, money owing on it an so forth, that is if ur a bit suss that this guy wants to get rid of it cheap for reasons other than going over sea. good luck anyway,
