From what I can gather, air bags suspension was only fitted to a few KR Xi models, and it was difficult to service, and parts were quite expensive.

All the cars I know of that had it fitted have had it converted to spring and strut suspension.

k, just we pick'd up a verada (which has had the conversion) but still have the parts from the airbag setup. so we may be able to offer a cheap fix to anyone still running the setup in their car.

(edit) dam she beat me to it........

I have had extensive experience with these, if you want to go to www.madmagna.com and click on "my other cars" it will take you to my magna pages, go to tech and you will see a write up on the airbag suspension

I have long wondered what this system is like to ride in. When I first heard about it I thought that it was a great idea, not only can you change you car's height at will but it also helps out with balancing the car when braking, accelerating and turning. I was wondering out of interest just what peoples experiences were with this system. Was it a good ride?

It was an awsome ride, very good system. Mine had it when I first got it, the compressor was on it's way out, could get after market one but didn't bother in the end.

Like a lot of things, it is the mechanics that cause it to fail and mitsu's failure to be able to provide simple parts liek the compressor piston and lining.

When in use, you need the car at full height before jacking or lifting on a hoist or you risk pinching the bags.

I still have the orignal setup, although i did have a 3rd Party compressor put in as the other one died. It was the cheaper option at the time. Its a comfortable setup but the 3rd party compressor is loud which is annoying.

Certainly is a good ride!
My xi is fitted with airbag suspension I just dread the day I have to repair it if anything goes wrong.
Driving through bumpy roads like parramatta road is not so bad anymore and I can actually hold the car steady now.
Very smooth ride and feels like a cushion :)

What's the ride like handling wise, as in is it a bit soft like in the execs or does the computer level the ride out a bit. Just interested cos I've always thought that it'd be cool to have the handling of a lowered sprung ride but able to lift it up a bit so that you could have the same clearance as stock

The ride is a lot smoother than our 2.6ltr executive.
And i noticed when i park the car and turn engine off, a few seconds later you can hear mini blow off valve-like sounds coming from the suspension :D
I guess the air is being released when you turn the engine off...
I was like what da hell is this (oh no problems already) then i remembered air bag suspension so I thought it might of had something to do with that :)

Maybe one day we can take turns driving each others cars and see how they go hehe

lol you wouldn't want to drive my car that's for sure. The 2.6L with an auto in a wagon. Not a performance car by any means lol

How much? I might possibly have a use for two of them, being a wagon I'd only want the fronts (is there any difference between front and back?), and fit air-coils in the rear. I have a friend in the air-suspension industry, so may be able to set up a useable system.

I'm in Brisbane.
