I got my old wheel off fine, but when I try to put the new boss on, the connector for the cruise control / horn is in the way.

It's a connector which is attached to a circular spindal which acts as a contact point so the wires don't keep going round and round.

Now my guess is, is that people without CC on their stock steering wheel, or at all wouldn't have this problem, because the on wire comming from the wheel is the horn, but is there anyone who has the similar situation to me??

This is the circular spindal which the horn and cruise control are connected to

This is what it loos like when it attached. Note the connector at the top

and this is what happens when I try to put the boss on. The connector is in the way

Now I'm sure I have the right boss because I asked for one that would fit a '93 TR 4cyc. Is there a different boss for TR's with and without cruise control??

Ok i can think of a few things..

Hacksaw to the boss kit,
Hacksaw to the connector,
But what i recommend is: If you follow the wires from the top picture they will probably go down the tree and then there will be a plug. Unplug that and replace the whole thing with the same part out of a TR without the cruise control from a wreckers. That should probably fit. Or you could take the hacksaw to the new one you bought.

Sorry thats all i can think of as i dont own a TR and/or haven't fitted a boss kit to one.

If you do not care about hte cruise, get teh combo switch of the exec, it has a pin that will rin on your new boss kit.

i will take pics of what i did to myn wen i get home from work.

i was without cruize for awhile then decided to take the plastic casing off it and stick the pcb with the buttons onto the front of the wheel with double sided tape lol...

as for the wires - i did not have to cut anything apart from the black plastic cover thing...

pics will explain it better, just wait a few hrs

If you cut the boss kit, you still will not have the crusie as there are no controls on thenew wheel

dont think cops or transport would like it with a cut in it either

I'm not going to cut it. That's for sure. I believe I can still have cruise control because the controls are a seperate box which can be removed from the old wheel.

Am I wrong in thinking that I can totally bypass the circular spindal and just have a direct connection outside the wheel itself for the horn/CC.

that was gonna be my suggestion,
rig up the horn using a standard connector off a "non cruise" wheel, then just wire the cruise to a section on the dash,

that way your horn will still be legit and you get your new wheel and cruise all in one

i didnt get a chance to take pics of myn, but ill try to explain:

in ur boss kit there should be a rectangular hole. this is where the cables for ur horn go.

if ur boss kit came with a black plastic ring (sorta like a cover for the horn arrangement) you wont be able to use this as the nob on the connector ring gets in the way.

i just ran my cc cables around the outside of the boss and stuck the controlls on the front of the wheel...

Coming from the other direction, is there any difference in connectors between the standard non-cruise/non-airbag wheel and a cruise-only wheel? Saw a cruise wheel at a wreckers and was contemplating changing my standard one to this (getting rid of the cruise part), but wasn't sure of connections?

I was informed by the shop that I bought the boss kit from that there is no boss for the cruise control model, but they would ask Saas if they can help.

Yes, the cruise only wheel also has the clock spring/plug set up, similar to the airbag wheel The non crusie/bag setup has a pin that runs on the back of the wheel, this can be removed however and just the turning disk, for lack of a beeter word, installed.

Just been looking into this myself & I found that you can get a boss which retains the cruise control wiring - but it's about $220...
