Hey guys,
picked up a spoiler real cheap and just wondering about fitting it on the car(TR magna).
Now it needs a paint etc.. but It looks like it has been "cut" or "grinded" off car at the bottom on the legs (It came off a crash car). So anyways, obviously there is no bolts sticking down or nuts to tighten into for the spoiler.
Now its made of fibreglass.. and i was just wondering how would be the best way to fit it on or make it so it can be fitted, or is it just not worth it at all?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys.

are there any visible holes in the pegs of the spoiler?
you'd probably have to drill holes into the boot, get some suitable nuts, and go from there, yeah if there are some holes with thread in the spoiler you should be fine mate

nah thats the thing,
there are holes in the pegs of the spoiler, but there is no thread because of the way the spoiler has been removed... So could i basically just redrill holes in the pegs and block the other ones, and just rethread it? So it can be fitted? Or would fibreglassing some bolts into it hanging down be able to mount it through the boot that way?

nah nah, i would say try and thread it, if you fibregalss it i dunno i reckon its a waste of time
your better off either using those holes, or making some new ones in the spoiler, and making a thread for it.

Do you have to prep the holes in the bootlid to stop rust?
Bog the old ones up, wait for it to dry then Drill, Tap and Epoxy new threded rod in then put the holes in your boot then bolt it up :D

Yeh what "the monk" said,
what prep would be required off the boot or the spoiler to stop rust and crap? Would I need to use rubber around the bolts etc to stop water getting in etc? Last thing I want is a boot with holes in it and stuff up my boot.. cuz at the moment paint is perfect condition etc..

Dont forget what ever you do the way the spoiler works is the air is disrupted as it flows over the top surface of the wing creating a down draft as the air travels under the wing... hence the top of the wing is rather flat in comparison to the under side of the wing which is more curved !
So what ever you do to fix the wing down to the boot lid their are a lot of opposing forces at work !
I fitted a ssv sports spoiler to my 1998 3rd gen TH and there is five 6mm bolts that screw from the boot into nuts that are fixed in the base of the wing !
Wether you bog the holes and rethread, fit bolts or the nuts in the wing should not make too much difference as long as they are square to the boot lid and flush with the base of the wing !
All the force is down and the orriginal holes would be in the best and strongest possition so just use enough bolts to hold the wing firm... the last thing you want to do is be cruzin down the street and the wing lets go and spin around and smack the TR lol !
