my car is a TF, auto

when i'm going through a thrashing motion, when i pull up at the lights or whenever i have to stop, i notice that the rpm drops to about 200 for a split second, like its about to stall, this only happens when i thrash the car,

and every time i start the engine and pull away from the kerb, the revs goes up then for a split second drops back down then comes up again and everything is fine.

would anyone have any idea what this could be,

i suspect it might have something to do with auto bands being worn out and slipping or something like that?

the car has done 180 000k, i've had since its done 135 000k, i don't know the history of driving

Hey valaxy66 !
No dont listen to people that say your auto's shot as your auto is not slipping other wise you would not have been able to "THRASH" the TF because if the auto was slipping your motor would be reving and the car would not be going anywhere even tho the reves are !
From your explination the auto would certainly not cause it to drop to 200 revs !
I have a 1998 TF thats a 3L auto that i have had since 45,000ks and now sits on 179,000ks i use my TF in autokhanas and speed events classic rallys and just went to the drags on friday (see post under WA) The auto transmissions are robust enough but dont like being used as a manual gear box nor do they like it when pulling them from nutral into drive under exceleration ie standing start 5,000 RPM then reef it into gear... thats usually followed by a lowd crunching noise as the diff lets go or the planitery gears in the auto seperate ! lol
With these particular autos the are electronic and do adjust to your driving style and I have noticed myself when i have been on and off the gas in quick succession 3 or 4 times during events you can trick the onboard computer and I have acually had mine stall a few times !

A couple of questions :
When was the last time you had the TF serviced ?
Where your "THRASHING" the TF where you on and off the gas as I explained then as you came to a stop did it then drop to 200rpm and then back up?

And it is normal when you start the motor the revs go up and then come down slowly thru 2000 to 900rpm... thats just how they are with the fuel injection and electronics ! :D

well i got is serviced 2 weeks ago, and i thrash it around the streets, not speeding just heavy off the lights accelerating and leaving it in second gear, i usually like to use the L,2,3,D to change gears, cause auto is so boring.

and as much as i wish i could stop thrashing it so much fun and i love the sound of my exhaust.

Well whats your problem then ? lol

I hope I answered your questions on your auto !

Just a note, I change my auto transmission fluid every 30,000ks because I really work my auto in the rallys and have instaled an auto trans oil fillter on to displace the heat !
