Hey guys, just thought i'd inform you of some mods for my 2nd gen that a friend and I made.

I remembered a thread a little while ago about cup holders, as it turned out there was nothing really sufficent for the 2nd gens, except for the cup holders that would stick to your air vents. Well look at the first mod.

First Modification: Cup Holder

This is pretty simple, all we did was messure the floor consoles contrainer (you know the area behind the ashtry), but took messurements for the little groves that were inside so something would sit flush on top.

Once done, we cut a piece of plywood (about 6mm thick), cut the the groves, and the corners, and voila it fits! Looks really good to. Now you have a lid for your console! We went one step further though. We had a tool that would cut circles in wood via a drill, but the biggest piece we had couldn't hold a Large Maccaz cup so we imprivised and made it larger. The piece of ply now sits pefectly on top of the floor console, it still looks rough (as I need to sand and paint it!), but it does the job, i'm also going to make a strap so I can use it as a lid, we may even put hinges on it. I haven't got a picture as of late, but I will put one up soon.

If anyone would like the demensions for the piece just ask.

Second Modification: Boot Storage

Most of you probably won't be interested. But if you're like me and have a lot of cleaning and car products in your boot, and are sick of them moving around this is for you!

We made a small container from plywood, that would sit flush with the side of the car, and would not interfere with the closing of the boot. We have carpeted it, and it looks great, once again no pics, but I can give anyone who wants the demsions no problems!

Total Cost of these two mods: $0 ( We had plywood from an undisclosed source) You can get a sheet of 6mm ply for around $40-50 and one sheet was plenty. Also the carpet was provided from an undisclosed source, and I have no idea how much it would cost, we used about 2 and a half meteres.

Just wanted to share it with you guys, if anyone has any questions please ask!

i bought the entire centre console setup from mitsu a few years back to get the console with a lid ... the whole lot up to the radio bit cost about $200

parts included the piece that goes around the gear stick, centre console, the lid and the tray that goes into the centre console and i also bought a new ashtray so it's all look new

prolly cheaper from the wreckers but there are no wreckers where i live

Hrmm I didn't like those big fluffy lids, the one i've made is just a single piece of plywood, with a hole to hold cups. I've actually been talking with a relative in the plastics industry who might be able to make a proper mold for the console, with a finger latch, and hinges. As for the pictures, it was too dark and my phone sucks ass so it'll have to wait till tommorow. Sorry.
