hey ppl,
i'm havin this wierd thing happenin to me:
when i am say waiting at the lights with the car in 1st and the clutch pedal depressed, the car will jus slip into gear, and stall (coz i have my foot on the brake!), and then i'll need to lift the pedal from the floor, and it'll be fine for a while.
i've checked the clutch fluid level, and it seem cool.
does any1 know what could be causing this?
i thought clutch cable (noob), but it's a hydaulic system isn't it?
any help would be greatly appreciated.

have u checked ur slave cly, sum also call it secondary cly , it might need to be recond.
If its your slave cylinder it would be leaking fluid, your best bet is its your master cylinder (the one on the firewall) it isnt holding the pressure when its held for a long time (like at the lights) so that will have to be repalced. Your best bet is to replace it rather than recondition, its a bit more expensive but youll get a LOT more life out of it.
Your looking at $100+ (well it was for my first gen) and you can do it yourself, but it will take about 1/2 for a mechanic i think. Best to do the secondary at the same time as its prolly on its way out too. The slaves about $30 as it is very straight forward.
In the mean time when you are at the light put it into neutral and take the foot off the clutch and then when it goes green (or JUST about to), foot back on clutch put it in 1st and off you go.

yeah cheers meph, the above is what i have had to do in the meantime.
i had the slave cylinder replaced about 4 months ago, so i had an inkling it was the master cyl.
i will have a read thru my serv and repair manual, and see how difficult it looks to replace, and maybe i can do it myself :) (getting quite mechanically proficient these days), otherwise will give it to Sam, my trusty mech.
cheers guys, will update when it's sorted :D

it probably is the master
I just wanted to say that sitting at the lights in gear is not a good habit, you will often have the clutch slipping a little bit, which heats it and it will wear quicker. Unless you are the first one at the lights, just slip it into gear when you are about to move.
