hey everyone, today driving to work my speedo (and odo) both stopped working !

i had to rely on my memory of rpm to maintain an acceptable speed lol, and other cars around me.

Now does anyone know why this would happen ? also, since it just happened by itself, one would assume you could do this "mod" yourself lol

btw, now my speedo (and unfortunately odometer) are working again ! lol

anyone heard of this happening before ?

The odometer on my old VK station wagon had stopped working too. I dont know when exactly, but it is a 22 year old car that has only done 189,000km

Any chances that you did a bulb change or mod in instrument cluster and did not align it back properly in?

Could be a loose speedo cable or a rooted cog which only occasionally grabs. Go to VDO
and have them look at it. My old TP had a problem where the left most odo counter was
ticking over at the same rate as the one on its right. Eventually went to VDO to get it
fixed. They needed my last service record to verify last good odo reading.

the thing is that i hadn't touched a thing ! but i have a feeling one of my engine mounts has shat itself, which could be affecting the gearbox etc.

But yeah it's done 196 000km, so i dont mind if it stays under 200000 for a while lol

ps. what is VDO ?

ahh well it will save you some k's recorded, although it is illegal, its hard for them to enforce because no one checks the cars odmeter that often or at all.
