i think the only difference is the type of LSD

I think that the difference is that the ralliart HAS an LSD... The VRX/Exec doesn't.

Actually, it's the fact that the Ralliart has an LSD whereas the VR-X doesn't.

please correct me if i'm wrong, but i think the ralliart LSD uses a different spline for the driveshafts, so they could be different too.

ok well my ralliart is tip so any advice? ive been told by a mitsu dealer it would be cheaper to just buy a manual ralliart instead.

It would be easier to buy a manual. A manual tranny swap is possible so you could do the LSD at the same time.

I think the ralliart manual gear ratios are different to the manual VRX gear ratios

TJ manuals all share the same ratios.

ohk i just find that strange as all, like you would think there would be a difference in ratios between a vrx and ralliart

How come? There's stuff all difference from an Exec to a VR-X and several difference's between a VR-X and a Ralliart, cosmetics aside. The difference in the drivetrain is the presence of an LSD. Adding one of those would have been a cheaper alternative than reworking a gearbox as it's straight from their parts bin and given better results considering the nature of the beats (powerful FWD large sedan) and having shorter ratios would have made things worse.

There was a gear ratio difference from either 3.0l to 3.5l or TH to TJ. Can't remember.

I'd say as much as anyone else would, its always cheaper selling your ralliart and buying another one that rolled out manual from the factory, its piece of mind that you know the car was built that way and something wont screw up because someone forgot to do something, and it will always be cheaper, problem is people get attached to their cars and would rather spend a fortune on their 'baby' than look at the problem logically like if it were a toaster or something else that you don't really care about.
