As I am looking at getting new springs I have been paying close attention to all the vehicles here and have noticed that there is a big variation between ride heights of cars with the same spring combination. Is it pot luck as what height it will sit. For example darcy just posted his vehicle with super low front and it looks like just a low spring, or does it depend on wheel/tyre combination. Open to any comments.

I believe it also depends on what shocks you are using and how old they are. Also you have to take into account that springs sag over time, and even brand new springs need to "settle in" for about 500-1000kms before they sit at their proper height. So if he posted the pics before that settle in period, could explain why his are a little higher.

Bigger wheels make a big difference, springs settle after 500k around 5mm, standard shocks will sit lower then aftermarket, but M4DD0G pretty much covered that. :)

Up to 18's (assuming ultra low profile tyre is used) rims wont change the physical height, maybe visually might look lower/higher dependant on rim size/style.
I saw a little 13 inch stockies barina dumped on it's arse the other day, looked funny as, couldn't go over speedbumps though hehehe.

Yeah but some people still like 55 profile on 18"s lol
I had a laser on Ulta-Lows with 17" Mags, was just off the ground then i sold the mags and for a while it was on 13" rims haha pebbles got stuck under the front bar :D
well this is my car with superlow front, low back... i didnt think it was low enough to be superlows but when i measured center of wheel to arch it was spot on to what it sould be but IMO it still isnt low enough. hope all goes well:cool:

Bloody hell Doma now you have me thinking about rjr blades(if that is what they are) for my wheels instead of xhp sabers. That looks perfect and that is exactly what ride height I would like. I am looking at just lows for springs. Could you tell me what your measurement from centre of wheel to wheel arch is please. Mine is 410- front 390- rear with standard GTV springs.
Thanks a lot.

wrexed03 Do you have any problems with tyres scraping or bottoming out especially with people in the back? The same goes for you Doma? Your car is the same colour as mine wrexed03 and its good being able to see what mine will look like when its finished.
naa doesnt bottom out much really... only ever at two places... one huge bump and one steep driveway but all good....
the fronts are 360mm center to arch and back 350mm
hope that helps

No probs with tyres scraping with people in the back. The shocks are a bit on the crappy side will be changing them soon. Just need to be careful on the speed humps mudflaps definetly scrape on them. Only issue i have is the front right strut is knocking due to a manhole cover on Edgars Rd just before the Eastern Freeway. Damn thing sits an inch and a half to two inches over the road. Cars front suspension bottomed out hard on the right side since then the Strut has been knocking. No thanks to Vic Roads. Otherwise it drives great.
