TM Elite Occasionally the volt meter maxes at 18V, the dash instruments get super bright as do the headlights. I assume it to be a regulator fault, is the regulator part of the alternator or is it seperate please ? If separate where is it located please ?
Cheers Damien.

on a bosch alternator: voltage regulator sits in the alternator, but can be removed from it... it's the black or brown box on the back of your alternator... two screws and it comes out... it also has the brushes on there... may also be a wire you have to disconnect to remove it fully from the alternator... rememeber to join it back up!

had a similar prob, was the regulator. get it fixed quick. i managed to blow 2 computers thru surges. for the sake of a part thats a few dollars ($60 from memory, but rip the brushes out out of the mounty bit and take em to a auto sparky get get some new 1's) its not worth it.
