yay i finally got an o/s throttle body.
the take off has improved but now it totally lacks balls at anything over 2000rpm.
at least i think it has only been since the tb was installed. i dont really drive it very much as i work away.
is this common after putting in o/s throttle bodies or is it something else?
it is in for a tranny service and a service and tuneup or something as i write so we'll see how it goes this arvo.

nah man i just drove it to RPW , sat around for a while as they swapped it all over and then drove out.
I trust them to know what they are doin.

its just that , say im sitting on 80kph at 2000rpm and start to accelerate up to 100kph (freeway driving) the tacho just sits on 2000rpm for a while and slowly accelerates.
it has no throttle response.
I pretty much have to floor it so it drops back a gear.

even at lower speeds.
i had a noticable increase in torque from standing but after that its about as responsive as a dead whale.

Am i expecting too much or does it sound like somethings wrong ie: fuel system , ecu or something else?

Put an original one back on, if it's better take it back and say, fix!!!!

Sounds like a stuck throttle blade. (it only opens so far, never gets to WOT). If it is badly 'highflowed' then there is a chance it gets stuck where it has been machined.

For the record this isn't a High flowed Throttle body. It is a 2nd generation Bored out unit with a larger butterfly fitted and re honed.

Odds of a jammed butterfly aer very unlikely - you woudl feel it in the pedal becoming heavy or non responsive as it jammed.

I don't know what your problem is - all I can suggest at this time is drop by and we can check that everything is connected up properly and also recheck the TPS switch settings as that is the only thing that has been changed as such.

cheers for that dave , i knew it was oversized and not high flowed.
by the way is it worth doing that to it? its just tapering the lip in front of the butterfly isnt it.

I will probably drop by the shop in the next month or two anyway - i have been convinced that extractors are the way to go and have decided that i can actually be bothered to spend that sort of money :)
