Looks like Alpine USA has released a new range of digital amps called the PDX - Anyone know if they are in/coming to Au? Whats peoples thoughts on these amps? How good would they be for SQ?

2 Chan $450us - PDX-2.150 (http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/products/product.php?model=PDX-2.150&lang=en&tab=F) 2x150wrms@4ohm from 14.4v
Monoblock $850us - PDX-1.1000 (http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/products/product.php?model=PDX-1.1000&lang=en&tab=F) 1x1000wrms@4/2 ohm from 14.4v

Looks like they are class D. Not sure about them as I know of many a class D alpine amp running very very hot ( do I hear overload ) especially at 2 ohms. From the specs they look ok however I would buy an eqivalent Audison before I would the Alpine ( for the same $$$ ).
No mention of anything besides power and S/N.. are they hiding something??? :D

Hmmm Class D amps usually run much cooler as they are more efficient (at the expense of slightly more thd usually.
Alpine make good gear, but I havent heard these yet so couldnt say.
Traditionally class d isnt the best for full range signals, but a few brands are coming out with full class d. I run a full range class d but still use it for my subs.
Peace
Tim
Must they rate them at 14.4volt all the time? :(

They do, these are meant to be a new range, a step above the V12 series.
